Job Description

The Director, Transaction Management leads the due diligence and closing execution for the company’s acquisition and disposition activity, ensuring disciplined process, risk management, and cross-functional alignment through post-close stabilization. This leader sets direction for the transaction management function and drives consistent execution through a team of 4–6 transaction professionals, partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders and continuously improves the operating model to strengthen outcomes and efficiency.  

This role requires deep transaction experience, outstanding judgment and communication, and a track record of leading teams to deliver results in fast-moving, high-accountability environments.  

Transaction Leadership & Execution 

  • Lead end-to-end diligence and closing for acquisitions and dispositions, ensuring predictable timelines, clear accountability, and high-quality deliverables from pre-DD through post-close handoff.  

  • Serve as escalation point for complex diligence findings, structure issues, and closing risks; ensure appropriate documentation, decisioning, and resolution.  

  • Own the transaction management operating cadence (deal dashboards, critical path tracking, stakeholder updates) to drive transparency and speed.  

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management 

  • Act as a primary connector across Investments, Debt Capital Markets, Portfolio Strategy, Capex, Asset Management, Risk, Tax, Accounting, Legal, operating partners, and outside counsel to ensure coordinated execution.  

  • Lead cross-functional working sessions and diligence tours; ensure the right information reaches the right decision-makers at the right time.  

  • Maintain strong external relationships with sellers, buyers, brokers, and third-party vendors to support efficient, professional execution.  

Team Leadership (4–6 direct reports) 

  • Build, coach, and lead a high-performing team; establish clear expectations, cultural norms, and performance standards.  

  • Delegate with intent to develop capability and build bench strength; provide direct, actionable feedback and support growth.  

  • Create clarity and accountability across deal assignments and workload balancing. 

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement 

  • Oversee implementation of key process improvements (templates, playbooks, vendor SLAs, governance routines) to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.  

  • Identify and seize opportunities to improve organizational performance and effectiveness within transaction execution.  

  • Ensure consistent handoffs to internal partners for onboarding/offboarding assets and post-close integration readiness.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).  

  • 10+ years of relevant real estate experience with a strong concentration in multifamily transactions (acquisitions/dispositions; investment banking, principal investing, asset management, or similar). 

  • Proven track record leading teams of 4–6 and delivering outcomes through others (not just individual execution).  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder deal processes with urgency, accuracy, and sound judgment.  

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; high responsiveness and proactive stakeholder updates.  

  • Strong analytical capability and comfort with business data and decision support (Excel and MS Office proficiency expected).  

  • High integrity, professionalism, and alignment with values and culture expectations.

Base Compensation Range: 

$175,000 - $210,000 annually. This represents the presently anticipated low and high end of the Company’s base compensation range for this position. Actual base compensation range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience. 

Total Direct Compensation:   

This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus on an annual basis.
