Role Type This is a full-time position

About the Team

The Test Publishing team spearheads the development of paper AP Exam materials and related vendor management activities, ensuring that AP students worldwide have timely access to high-quality print materials essential for successful completion of AP Exams. By maintaining rigorous standards and fostering strong vendor partnerships, the team plays a crucial role in supporting the academic success of students globally.

About the Opportunity

As the Director, Test Publishing Change Management, you will serve as the operational linchpin across our vendor-facing functions, driving issue resolution, surfacing risks, and ensuring delivery of exam print assets remains on track. This new role is critical as the AP Test Publishing team expands its capacity to navigate increased format complexity, and lays the groundwork for new publishing functions.

You will be responsible for real-time monitoring and coordination with a key vendor partner, as well as internal supply chain teams, planning strategically for critical programmatic milestones, driving resolution for operational blockers, and overseeing implementation of print production workflows to deliver high quality, error-free materials.

In this role, you will:

Oversee vendor operations, including SLA monitoring (50%): Lead the day-to-day management of vendor partner operations, ensuring seamless execution of AP print publishing deliverables.

  • Own the monitoring of vendor progress against project milestones and service-level agreements (SLAs), solutioning and escalating delays or misalignments in real time.

  • Maintain visibility into the entire external delivery chain, from print layout and QC to print readiness, surfacing execution risks and identifying corrective action paths.

  • Reinforce and manage print quality control (QC) checkpoints by coordinating inputs from internal AP teams and external vendors, ensuring adherence to College Board’s high standards.

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure contractual performance expectations are met, documented, and incorporated into long-term vendor accountability structures.

  • Partner with internal print production teams and assessment operations to proactively anticipate logistical or formatting blockers and coordinate resolution.

Lead Cross-Functional Coordination & Change Management (30%): Act as a connective hub between College Board teams and our publishing vendor to drive delivery alignment and operational clarity.

  • Lead regularly scheduled meetings with vendor partners and internal stakeholders to track progress, review dependencies, and facilitate real-time decisions that increase cross-functional clarity and alignment.

  • Create an integrated and responsive execution model to translate complex operational challenges into targeted communications and seamless hand-offs across departments.

  • Maintain a source-of-truth view of operational readiness, ensuring all parties are aligned on timelines, ownership, and known risks.

  • Contribute to the maturity of cross-functional publishing workflows by identifying areas for standardization, automation, or improved governance as new formats and exam types scale.

Facilitate Risk Escalation & Strategic Reporting (20%): Serve as the primary escalation point for vendor and publishing operational blockers, ensuring leadership visibility and fast-path resolution.

  • Develop and maintain issue logs, escalation trackers, and vendor performance dashboards that feed into weekly and monthly status reporting for senior leaders.

  • Support the Program Manager by preparing inputs for governance meetings and leadership updates that reflect operational health and risk outlooks.

  • Analyze patterns in SLA performance, blocker trends, and delivery variances to inform continuous improvement strategies across vendor and internal processes.

  • Support preparation of strategic planning sessions and QBRs by contributing grounded operational data and recommendations based on in-flight work and lessons learned.

About You

  • 6–8 years of experience in operations, program or project management, or vendor management, ideally within education, assessment, or logistics.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate within complex matrixed teams involving multiple vendors and stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and clarity in communication.

  • Ability to maintain calm under pressure and prioritize real-time issue management alongside longer-term process improvements.

  • Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar project tracking tools.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

All roles at College Board require:

  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and comfort with learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.

  • A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.

  • A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success

  • The ability to travel 2-3 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business.
