Overview: Girard College seeks a experienced Director of Technology to lead the school’s technology initiatives, with a balanced focus on both operational and academic technologies. This role serves as a key member of the operations leadership team, contributing to the innovative efficiencies that streamline business operations. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic hands-on-leader who is not only strategic but willing to directly support and implement solutions. They must be capable of seamlessly integrating technology to enhance educational outcomes and operational efficiency, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology vision that supports the school’s mission and strategic priorities.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team, promoting professional growth and collaboration.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships across academic and operational departments to ensure technology alignment and effectiveness with the ability to promote cross-departmental collaboration.
    • Foster a culture that prioritizes continuous professional development and skill enhancement for all staff members.
  • Technology Infrastructure and Vendor Management:
    • Oversee. Manage, and maintain all technology systems supporting school operations including networks, servers, hardware, software, AV and Print Services.
    • Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to protect the school’s data and IT systems.
    • Partner with managed service providers while ensuring high performance.
    • Manage the deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle of hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
    • Provide hands‑on technical support as needed, modeling a high-touch, customer‑focused approach.
    • Manage technology projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
    • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Student Experience Technology Integration:
    • Promote the use of technology to support teaching excellence and learning evaluating platforms and applications that enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
    • Partner with academic leadership to integrate technology into curriculum, instruction, and assessment in meaningful and innovative ways.
    • Facilitate high-quality professional development to refine teacher knowledge and skills around technology use.
    • Develop technology-integrated lessons with teachers and provide coaching, peer observation, and modeling of modern instructional strategies and technologies.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Foster a culture of innovation by exploring and implementing new technologies that enhance educational and operational effectiveness.
    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure the school remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
    • Encourage and support the use of technology in creative and impactful ways within the school community.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education, documented technical training, and progressively responsible technology leadership experience will be considered.  Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience leading a  technology department, technology team, or major technology function, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical work.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity measures and best practices to protect data and IT systems.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex technology projects.
  • Experience managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, including large networks, servers and SaaS applications. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have previous education-based experience and familiarity with systems commonly used in schools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders .
  • Certifications in networking, cybersecurity, project management, or relevant technologies.

                                   


Skills Required
