Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.

Overview

Archer is on a mission to redefine urban air mobility. As we scale from R&D to manufacturing and operations, the technology organization is building the digital foundations that power every part of our business — from engineering and supply chain to manufacturing, commercial operations, and employee productivity.

We are seeking a Director of Product to establish and lead product management capabilities and culture within Archer’s Technology organization. This leader will define product vision and strategy across key domains such as user productivity, commercial and customer systems, and digital workflow automation — ensuring that our tools and platforms enable every team at Archer to move faster, work smarter, and scale with confidence.

This is a foundational role: the right person will set direction, deliver early wins, and build a small, high-impact product team over time.

Key Responsibilities

Define Product Vision and Strategy

  • Partner with business and technology leadership to define clear product visions and multi-year roadmaps across areas such as:
    • Internal user productivity (collaboration, workflow, automation)
    • Commercial and customer systems (CRM, quoting, deal flow)
    • Business platforms and data-driven tools for operations
  • Establish measurable outcomes that link product investments to business impact, user experience, and company scalability.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable product roadmaps, guiding prioritization across competing needs.

Drive Delivery and Execution

  • Work hands-on with engineering, data, and solutions teams to deliver products that simplify work and drive measurable efficiency.
  • Bring discipline to discovery, design, and iteration — ensuring that every product shipped delivers tangible value and adoption.
  • Build frameworks for product lifecycle management, decision-making, and feedback loops with business users.

Leadership and Team Building

  • Serve as the connective tissue between technology and business functions — translating opportunity into execution.
  • Champion modern product management practices within the technology team.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a small team of Product Managers and UX partners as the function grows.
  • Model clarity, accountability, and user-centered design thinking across all initiatives.

Partner Across the Enterprise

  • Collaborate with leaders in Commercial, Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, and People to align product strategy with organizational goals.
  • Partner with the CIO, CTO, and Data leadership to ensure product direction is tightly integrated with architecture, data, and platform strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, ensuring priorities are transparent and execution is reliable.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management, with a proven record of defining and launching impactful digital products or platforms.
  • Strong technical fluency and the ability to work directly with engineering and data teams.
  • Demonstrated success in environments of growth and change — especially in scaling or operationally complex organizations.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise productivity, business systems, or digital workflow platforms.
  • Track record of creating clarity in ambiguous problem spaces, balancing quick wins with long-term vision.
  • Experience hiring and developing talent within a small, high-performance team.

What Success Looks Like

  • A clear product vision and roadmap that aligns Archer’s business priorities with digital capabilities.
  • Rapid delivery of tools and systems that make work more efficient and connected.
  • High adoption and satisfaction across business teams using internally built or integrated systems.
  • A growing, empowered Product function that shapes how technology decisions are made at Archer
