PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $199,300.00-$243,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $155,200.00 - $288,000.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
As the Director of Technology – DevOps & Release, you will play a critical role in advancing BECU’s mission by modernizing the tools, platforms, and engineering practices that power secure, reliable, and high‑quality member experiences.
You will lead our DevOps, Release Engineering, and Developer Experience teams in creating an ecosystem that makes it easier, faster, and safer for engineers to build and deploy software. Through your leadership, you will deliver intuitive, modern solutions that reduce friction, elevate engineering excellence, and unlock innovation across the credit union.
You will drive the evolution of our CI/CD pipelines, automation strategies, and engineering workflows. In close partnership with Technology, Product, Security, Risk, and Compliance, you will ensure our platforms balance agility with the stewardship, safety, and trust our members expect.
As a collaborative, service‑oriented, and inclusive leader, you will cultivate a culture rooted in partnership, continuous learning, and doing what’s right for our members. By championing developer experience and modern engineering practices, you will help set a new standard for how BECU builds, tests, releases, and operates software.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX or CA . If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Lead Technology Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic technology roadmap that aligns with business objectives, ensuring innovation and efficiency.
Drive Digital Transformation: Spearhead the modernization of platforms, embracing Cloud, API, and DevOps best practices.
Build and Lead High-Performing Teams: Mentor, coach, and manage engineering and delivery teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence.
Implement Agile Best Practices: Oversee the adoption of agile methodologies to improve delivery speed, quality, and adaptability.
Enhance System Performance: Ensure scalability, security, and resilience across enterprise technology solutions.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with business leaders to align technology investments with operational goals and member needs.
Optimize Financial and Resource Planning: Oversee technology budgets and resource allocation to drive cost-effective solutions.
Foster Innovation: Identify and implement emerging technologies to enhance BECU’s competitive edge.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
7 years of people leadership experience, with experience working within or supporting DevOps, SRE and/or Cloud operations teams.
Experience leading technology teams required.
8 years of information technology experience with demonstrated expertise in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and automation with hands-on expertise in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management.
Domain experience with financial products (i.e. Credit Card, Mortgage, Auto Loan, Deposits, etc.) required.
Experience building technology platforms and teams required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strategy Development: Develop and execute strategic plans for cloud migration / DevOps implementation/ test automation and performance testing.
Strategy Development: Ensure the organization's infrastructure, tools, and processes are optimized for efficiency and scalability.
Strategy Development: Identify and address bottlenecks in development and deployment workflows.
Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to align DevOps practices with business objectives.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ServiceNow), scripting languages (Python, Bash), and CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Spinnaker).
Advanced knowledge of Technology fundamentals, design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
Delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology
Working experience of software engineering best practices including coding standards, release management, manage incidents, CI/CD, build processes, testing, and operations
