We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director, Technical Project Portfolio Management (TPPM) to lead complex biosimilar development programs from early development through delivery. In this highly visible leadership role, you will define and drive integrated technical strategies, lead cross-functional Technical Project Teams, and ensure alignment across internal stakeholders, governance bodies, and external partners. The successful candidate will combine strong CMC expertise (antibody drug conjugates and/or biosimilars experience is a plus), project leadership, risk management, and stakeholder management skills to deliver development milestones, optimize resources, and support the successful execution of our global biosimilar portfolio. Your key responsibilities:
- Lead one or more biosimilar development programs, defining and executing integrated technical strategies to deliver global objectives and competitive positioning.
- Lead assigned Technical Project Teams (TPTs), aligning internal functions and external partners/Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations around priorities, decisions, risks, and delivery commitments.
- Act as the primary technical interface across TPTs, Global Program Teams (GPTs), CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) line functions, governance boards, and external partners, ensuring clear communication, timely escalation, and effective decision-making.
- Is responsible for thorough CMC risk management including implementation of appropriate risk mitigations and risk reporting.
- Own resources (external costs and FTEs) and timelines oversight for assigned projects, ensuring accountability for cost, capacity and delivery.
- Manage project changes with agility, demonstrating adaptability in a fast‑changing development environment while maintaining focus on delivery.
- Take full accountability for the outcomes of the project teams’ work – championing successes, addressing failures, and adjusting priorities to ensure program success.
- Lead technical due diligence activities on a need basis.
What you will bring to the role:
- Advanced degree in life science, engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of drug development experience (preferably in biosimilars/biologics) with a strong track record in project leadership.
- Experience in biosimilar cell line/process development and/or antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) development is a plus.
- Strong communication (assertive & concise), stakeholder management, and collaboration skills in a global environment.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and engage effectively with senior management.
- Proactive, agile, results-oriented team player.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
What we offer:
Job location: Slovenia (Ljubljana)
Contract type: permanent contract with 6-month probation period
Expected weekly working hours: 40
* Pay range: €101,600 – €152,400 gross
*Salary at Sandoz is based on job level, qualifications, specific skills, and work experience. Fully proficient candidates are usually placed around the market median, less experienced candidates lower in the range, and those with strong or niche expertise higher. When determining placement within the range, we also consider internal pay equity and external market data.
Our compensation package additionally includes for Slovenia:
- Annual bonus (STI & LTI): percentage of annual salary
- Vacation allowance: in 2026 it was €2,450 net
- Christmas bonus: in 2025 it was €2,100 gross
- OurShare: every year, an employee of Lek d.d. will be entitled to receive shares of Sandoz AG
- Voluntary Additional Pension Scheme: The company fully covers the contribution for your supplementary pension plan, amounting to 5.844% of your gross salary
