We are seeking a Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) to lead a high-performing TPM organization from the ground up. This leader will drive execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives, bringing a strong technical foundation, proven leadership, and execution excellence to Alkami’s Technology group.The TPM team’s mission is to ensure programs are successfully defined, executed, and delivered—not just tracked. By combining technical depth with strategic program leadership, this role will enable proactive decisions, tighter alignment, and a more resilient engineering organization.
The right candidate has built software themselves and grown into program leadership, thrives in unstructured and ambiguous environments, and knows how to balance short-term delivery with long-term strategic vision. Key Responsibilities
Build & Lead the TPM Organization
Hire, mentor, and grow a team of Technical Program Managers.
Establish a TPM framework that balances lightweight process with delivery discipline.
Lead by example, earning trust by rolling up your sleeves, not just delegating.
Program & Portfolio Leadership
Drive end-to-end planning and execution of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
Define program success metrics, track KPIs, and enable data-driven decision making.
Provide transparency into risks, trade-offs, and delivery progress for stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Alignment
Partner closely with Product, Security, and Engineering to align priorities and execution.
Serve as a communication hub, ensuring stakeholders are informed, aligned, and engaged.
Drive critical decisions and resolve conflicts across competing priorities.
Strategic Execution & Improvement
Translate technology strategy into actionable delivery roadmaps.
Improve and adapt SDLC/PDLC processes, including Agile and DevSecOps practices.
Champion release quality, test automation, and performance readiness.
Balance tactical commitments while keeping long-term strategic goals in focus.
Thought Leadership & Change Management
Influence and guide leaders across Alkami to embrace TPM best practices.
Introduce scalable processes that elevate engineering maturity over time.
Lead organizational change management around new delivery practices.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (MBA preferred).
10+ years in technical roles within software development organizations.
7+ years as a TPM, Program Manager, or Engineering Operations leader managing large, complex initiatives.
5+ years leading TPMs/Program Managers, including hiring, mentoring, and scaling teams.
Technical & Leadership Skills
Experience building software (not just managing projects).
Strong technical background in scalable platforms, cloud (AWS), CI/CD, and SDLC practices.
Proficient with Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GitLab, and automation tools.
Deep understanding of Agile (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP) and Waterfall methodologies.
Skilled in release management, test automation, performance/quality, and Productivity metrics.
Exceptional communicator who is able to explain complex technical matters clearly.
Highly collaborative, empathetic, and able to thrive in ambiguous environments.
Preferred
FinTech or BankTech industry experience.
Knowledge of financial/banking platform technologies.
Familiarity with scripting or automation for program management efficiency.
