The Role

The Director of Technical Operations serves as a cross-divisional technical leader driving operational excellence, training modernization, and capability development across Core One’s Training & Capabilities Division (TCD) and Strategic Services Division (SSD). Reporting directly to the CEO, this position provides both hands-on and strategic support to high-priority programs, ensuring Core One’s technical, instructional, and operational standards remain best-in-class. This role bridges real-world operational experience with technical innovation—leading modernization initiatives, developing next-generation training solutions, and enhancing Core One’s technical credibility across customers, programs, and internal teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary technical and operational lead supporting a mission critical program. 
  • Provide direct platform and field support for ongoing operations, ensuring continuity, reliability, and mission success.
  • Deliver instructional support during training iterations, aligning with mission and customer requirements. 
  • Understand and ensure all program deliverables are provided accurately and timely to clients in conjunction with and as required by contractual statements of work.
  • Improve customer service and satisfaction across all our programs, by leveraging capabilities throughout the company.
  • Supervise and manage Program Directors and Program Managers, including professional development, training, and mentoring.
  • Partner with FIJI leadership to evolve training modernization initiatives—integrating emerging technology, digital tools, and instructional design.
  • With TCD leadership, lead technical assessments and innovation pilots supporting Core One’s “Training 2.0” modernization roadmap. 
  • Develop and contribute to Core One’s new Technical Operations Curriculum focused on recent real world lessons learned and experience. 
  • Co-design and pilot next-generation training concepts bridging IC and SOF communities
  • Communicate with the Corporate Support team to ensure adequate resources are provided to programs to meet deliverables on-time.
  • Receive and executive high-level recurring and ad hoc tasking on behalf of Executive Team.
  • Attend Executive Team meetings to ensure cross-functionality across the company.
  • Ensure plans, budgets and project controls are in place for meeting contract deliverables and financial objectives of each program.
  • Train and mentor Program Managers for developing key talent, client delivery, business development, meeting program deliverables and financial targets.
  • Promote business development objectives across all our programs and ensure cross-functionality with Client Solutions team.
  • Manage and oversee new contract start-ups and transitions.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 10+ years of experience managing programs in Government contracting for IC and/or SOF customers.
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior managerial and supervisorial skills.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • PMP certification
  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
