Role Overview:

This is a great opportunity to be part of Ankura's technical accounting and reporting function within the firm's fast-growing accounting and finance team. The Senior Director - Technical Accounting and Reporting will be responsible for overseeing and managing the global technical accounting functions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. This person will be responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, supporting complex technical accounting issues, and ensuring timely and accurate financial statements filings. The Senior Director will play a key role in advising senior management on accounting matters, managing audits, and developing accounting policies and procedures that align with best practices and industry standards. This person will also support other areas within Finance, such as month­ end close, strategic initiatives, and lender reporting.

The Senior Director - Technical Accounting and Reporting should be proficient in Financial Statement preparation, revenue accounting, equity accounting, debt accounting and purchase accounting and be comfortable acting as the subject matter expert for new technical accounting guidance research and implementation. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of public and corporate accounting experience and have demonstrated exceptional competencies through previous employment performance. The ideal candidate will be located in the US Eastern time or Central time zone.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in a timely manner

  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues (i.e., mergers, acquisitions, equity-based compensation, revenue recognition, debt accounting, cash flow statements)

  • Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting guidance

  • Manage the preparation of management reports and metrics, including cash flow statements

  • Provide support for finance team members on technical accounting questions

  • Lead special projects related to accounting transformations, system implementations or process improvements

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior management

  • Oversee month-end close accounting and reporting for certain assigned areas.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.

  • CPA required (preferably active).

  • 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 7 years in public accounting at a Big 4 or national accounting firm

  • Proven experience with complex accounting issues and financial reporting

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to mentor and develop staff

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with peers and all levels of management.

  • Strong organizational skills. Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments and deadlines.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills - ability to determine solutions and alternative solutions based on the situation.

  • Positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment

  • Limited travel (<10%) to visit non-local team members and to attend meetings as necessary.

This compensation range is specific to the said markets and considers a broad range of factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary. At Ankura, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each role. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range is between $110,000 to $240,000; this range is not a promise of a particular wage.
