Position Summary:
Under the direction and support of the Michigan Region Chief Strategy Officer this position provides direction for the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives, business and service line plans, regulatory compliance support, merger/acquisitions, market assessments, inputs into the long-range master facility and financial plans and conducts other analyses for the Trinity Michigan region and specific ministry assigned as requested. This position advances the role of planning, strategy and business development across the hospitals, MGPS offices, clinically integrated networks and other Trinity Michigan entities within defined geography. Role will have a dotted line relationship to the ministry President or designee to ensure a local connection and should contribute to and participate on local SLT as invited by ministry leadership. Approximately 80% of time spent on local initiatives and 20% of time spent on regional initiatives
What the Director of Strategy will need:
- Must have a broad-based knowledge of strategic planning as normally obtained through completion of a Masters degree in Business or Health Administration or related field.
- Must have at least seven (7) years of experience in strategy, planning, growth and data analysis within a local, regional, or national health system, or consulting firm with a primary focus on project management, and strategic and program planning.
- Must be proficient in the use of spreadsheet, power point graphics and database software with the ability to integrate elements. Must possess experience with specific planning software applications.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to large and small audiences.
- Must possess strong analytical skills.
- Must possess strong project management & execution skills.
- Must possess experience in supporting the development of project feasibility studies, including the analysis of assumptions and the development of related financial projections.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
What the Director of Strategy will do:
- Collaborates with ministry leaders, including national health ministries, finance, payer strategy and product development, marketing, innovation, facilities planning, medical group and physician services to implement proactively strategic driven processes that identify, evaluate and develop new business opportunities.
- Focuses on the highest-level ministry and system/region priorities that position the ministry to achieve a competitive advantage and sustainability on both organic and non-organic growth programs and initiatives.
- Uses the ministry growth plan to develop the strategic financial plan and support the capital requests and the facilities plans. Works with the HM regional leaders to lead and support the integrated strategic, financial and capital planning process in collaboration with the ministry financial leadership.
- Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Trinity Michigan in leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Actively participates with the ministry SLT in the development, implementation, and monitoring of key strategic initiatives.
- Help direct the work of strategic analytical support provided by Trinity Michigan and Trinity Health.
