The Director of Strategy (IHFM) will be responsible for leading the strategy process, various business execution activities, and key initiatives that help our business impact a growing number of heart failure patients globally.

This role requires onsite presence at our corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA.

How you will make an impact:

  • Direct the annual strategic planning process for the IHFM business, including internal workshops, executive presentation development, and financial modeling.

  • Serve in an advisory role to the IHFM Leadership Team through in-depth reviews of key business issues, similar to management consulting engagements.

  • Drive business development workstreams in close partnership with Corporate Development and Exploration teams, including technology landscapes, diligence, and partnership or investment strategies.

  • Cultivate engagements with regional counterparts to advance learning, local strategies, and investment prioritization.

  • Partner with the CVP and Leadership Team on strategic communications to internal and external audiences.

  • Assess and strengthen business governance processes.

  • Own the Key Operating Driver (KOD) process for IHFM to identify, define, and track critical initiatives across R&D, commercial, and operational programs.

What you will need (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, technical, or quantitative field and 12 years of direct experience in strategy, management consulting, business development, or marketing based on Edwards criteria; or

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in a scientific, technical, or quantitative field and 10 years of direct experience in strategy, management consulting, business development, or marketing based on Edwards criteria.

  • Demonstrated track record in people management.

  • Experience working in a regulated industry.

  • Proven successful project management leadership skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives.

  • Expert understanding of procedures while identifying applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems.

  • Expert understanding and interpretation of complicated market dynamics with the ability to identify and quantify market potential, and build business case with both business and financial analysis skills.

  • Expert understanding of related aspects of processes and/or systems.

  • Ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate value to the business.

  • Ability to listen to stakeholders, discover unmet needs, develop strong rapport with audience, and be customer-focused.

  • Ability to develop peer, cross functional and cross business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.

  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to successfully implement global enterprise systems and related solutions.

  • Develop relationships and leverage them to influence change.

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.
For California, the base pay range for this position is $174,000 to $246,000 (highly experienced).
