About the Role:

The Director of Business Operations is responsible for strengthening company-wide operating discipline and ensuring that strategic priorities are translated into executable plans, accountable ownership and measurable business outcomes. The role operates across functions and serves as a central link between executive leadership, functional teams and major company initiatives.

Working closely with the CEO and senior leaders, the role will establish and manage the company’s business operating framework, identify and remove execution barriers, improve cross-functional coordination and provide timely visibility over priorities, risks, decisions and delivery status. The position is expected to combine strategic judgement with strong operational follow-through and practical problem-solving.

This role does not replace the accountability of functional leaders for their respective teams, budgets, regulatory obligations or business outcomes. Its purpose is to provide company-level governance, coordination, execution oversight and escalation support.

Key Responsibilities:1. Company-wide Strategic Initiative Governance

·   Establish and maintain a company-wide framework for governing strategic and business-critical initiatives.

·   Translate executive priorities into clear delivery plans, milestones, ownership, dependencies, success measures and governance requirements.

·   Monitor delivery progress, risks, resourcing constraints and interdependencies, and ensure corrective actions are assigned and followed through to closure.

·   Maintain visibility over the overall portfolio of major initiatives and provide evidence-based recommendations on sequencing and prioritisation.

2. Cross-functional Execution and Alignment

·   Lead and facilitate cross-functional coordination across all business functions.

·   Clarify ownership, responsibilities, decision rights and hand-offs where accountabilities are fragmented or unclear.

·   Identify execution barriers and ensure material issues are resolved at the appropriate level or escalated with structured options and recommendations.

·   Build alignment between functional priorities and company-wide business objectives.

3. Operating Model and Process Optimisation

·   Identify recurring operational bottlenecks, duplicated activities, inefficient workflows, unclear responsibilities and control gaps.

·   Drive the design, implementation and continuous improvement of SOPs, operating processes, governance structures and accountability mechanisms.

·   Partner with relevant stakeholders to simplify processes, reduce unnecessary friction and improve scalability, control effectiveness and service delivery.

·   Ensure process changes are documented, communicated, implemented and reviewed for effectiveness.

4. Business Operating Rhythm

·   Develop and oversee the company’s operating cadence, including weekly project reviews, monthly business reviews, quarterly planning and major initiative governance.

·   Prepare structured agendas, decision materials and executive reporting to ensure meetings focus on material issues, decisions and actions.

·   Ensure actions arising from executive and operational reviews have clear owners, deadlines and closure criteria.

·   Continuously improve the quality, consistency and usefulness of business review forums.

5. Governance, Risk and Decision Tracking

·   Maintain company-wide project registers, issue logs, risk registers, dependency logs, decision logs and action trackers.

·   Ensure material initiatives and issues have clear ownership, target dates, escalation paths and measurable outcomes.

·   Provide transparent reporting on overdue actions, unresolved risks and decisions requiring executive intervention.

·   Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance and other control functions to ensure operational governance supports applicable obligations and internal controls.

6. Business Performance and Management Insights

·   Promote consistent business metrics, definitions and reporting standards across functions.

·   Lead the development and continuous improvement of executive dashboards and management reporting frameworks.

·   Validate that management information is accurate, timely, relevant and supported by clear ownership and source data.

·   Provide concise analysis of performance trends, delivery risks, operational constraints and emerging business issues to support executive decision-making.

7. Post-implementation Review and Benefits Realisation

·   Conduct post-implementation reviews of major initiatives and operational changes.

·   Assess whether intended improvements in efficiency, customer experience, control effectiveness, cost, revenue or business performance have been achieved.

·   Identify lessons learned, residual risks and further improvement opportunities.

·   Ensure agreed remediation and optimisation actions are tracked through to completion.

8. Executive Decision Support

·   Structure complex cross-functional issues into clear decision points, options, trade-offs and recommendations.

·   Facilitate resolution of resource constraints, priority conflicts, governance issues and unclear ownership.

·   Escalate material matters to the CEO where executive direction or resource allocation is required.

·   Follow through on executive decisions and ensure outcomes are communicated, implemented and tracked.

Key Deliverables and Success Measures:

·   Company-wide strategic initiatives are governed through consistent standards and delivered with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.

·   Material cross-functional issues, risks and decisions are identified early and resolved or escalated promptly.

·   Executive business reviews are supported by accurate, concise and decision-oriented information.

·   Overdue actions, unresolved dependencies and execution risks are reduced over time.

·   Process improvements produce demonstrable benefits in operating efficiency, customer outcomes, control effectiveness or business performance.

·   Functional leaders and executive stakeholders have improved visibility over company priorities, delivery status and accountabilities.

RequirementsQualifications and Experience

·   Approximately 8–12 years of relevant experience in business operations, strategy execution, management consulting, enterprise PMO, transformation or a comparable discipline.

·   Demonstrated experience leading complex company-wide or cross-functional initiatives involving senior stakeholders.

·   Experience working directly with CEOs, executive committees or equivalent senior leadership groups.

·   Data-driven decision support and performance analysis.

·   Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, ambiguous and multi-jurisdictional environment.

·   Practical understanding of governance, risk, compliance and internal control considerations.
