The Director Strategy and M&A works with the business leaders of selected Materials Group businesses to develop their long-term strategic plans, assesses growth opportunities and business challenges, and takes the lead for important projects (including M&A). This role is based in Oegstgeest (Amsterdam/The Hague area; home office possible up to 3 days per week) and reports to the Vice President Strategy and M&A, MG-Global.

This is a hybrid position based in Oegstgeest, Netherlands, with home office flexibility up to 3 days per week.
- Build and maintain a strong network within the organization and ecosystem while acting as a key thought partner to General Managers (e.g., Tapes, Graphics) and functional leaders on strategic questions and improvement opportunities.
- Lead the annual strategic planning process for 1-2 businesses or functions by shaping the storyline, structuring workstreams, challenging functional leaders, and ensuring financial projections tie back to strategy.
- Develop and execute focused strategies to grow the business into adjacencies by assessing industry structure, trends, and customer needs in adjacent spaces.
- Act as project lead for critical strategic or business initiatives, managing cross-functional teams and deep-diving into business operations.
- Work closely across the organization and corporate M&A team to identify acquisition opportunities, participate in the M&A process, present findings to the M&A committee (CEO, CFO, key business leaders), and support broader cross-regional/divisional strategic assessments.
Required:
- Master’s degree or PhD in science, engineering, business administration, or economics.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Management Consulting (preferred) and/or Corporate Development, with M&A experience and digital capabilities (in particular AI) considered a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, primarily within Europe.
