Overview

The Director will lead Jhpiego's business development strategy and revenue generation efforts with private foundations and corporations, as well as other funding entities. This senior leadership role will identify, cultivate, and secure strategic partnerships that align with Jhpiego's mission and drive sustainable revenue growth. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial relationship builder with a proven track record of securing investments from institutional funders.


The Director provides strategic leadership to drive foundation and corporate revenue growth for Jhpiego. This role is responsible for shaping and executing a global strategy to expand philanthropic and corporate partnerships, diversify revenue, and unlock innovative financing models. The Director will lead high-value partner engagement, build a strong funding pipeline, and strengthen organizational capacity to achieve ambitious revenue goals.


This role works closely with the Strategic Growth & Partnerships team, the Office of Global Program and Technical Excellence, and Country Directors to align partnership strategies with Jhpiego's programmatic priorities and global impact.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for foundations, corporations, and other funding entities that aligns with Jhpiego's strategic priorities.
  • Cultivate, steward, and expand high-value foundation and corporate relationships, clearly articulating Jhpiego's value proposition, impact, and comparative advantage.
  • Build and manage a robust global pipeline of foundation and corporate donors, including identifying and pursuing innovative partnership models such as co-funding, social enterprise, and blended or innovative financing.
  • Provide strategic oversight of partnership plans, performance metrics, and revenue forecasts; track progress against clearly defined indicators and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Jhpiego to design and deliver high-impact partnership strategies and compelling donor pitches.
  • Monitor philanthropic, corporate, and global development funding trends, translating insights into actionable opportunities for growth.
  • Strengthen coordination and alignment across teams to support an integrated, organization-wide approach to Foundation/Corporation business development and partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance Jhpiego's visibility and positioning with foundation and corporate partners across Jhpiego's global footprint.
  • Represent Jhpiego in high-impact global forums, networks, and platforms to showcase organizational impact, deepen relationships, and unlock new partnership opportunities.
  • Strengthen Jhpiego's reputation as a trusted, innovative partner for funders seeking measurable, scalable impact.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to staff involved in partnership development and revenue generation.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning to strengthen organizational business development and partnership capacity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business or a related field.
  • 8 years of progressive experience in business development, resource mobilization, or institutional fundraising, including working with foundations and corporation business development.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school  diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Technical Qualifications & Specialized Certifications:

  • Advanced proficiency and experience with CRM systems and business development tracking tools
  • Subject matter expert in developing proposals and business cases with foundations and/or corporations, with technical and international country teams and track record of securing partnerships from these institutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 or more years of progressive experience in business development, resource mobilization, or institutional fundraising experience, including global health, international development, or humanitarian sectors.

The salary range for this role is expected to be: $127,874 - $162,786

The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
