About the role

We're looking for a Strategic Engagement Director to join Crunchyroll's Strategy & Planning leadership team. We're seeking a strategic storyteller to articulate and cascade Crunchyroll's strategic roadmap and narrative for key stakeholders, as part of our mission to become a household name synonymous with anime worldwide.

You will develop an understanding of the anime ecosystem and synthesize emerging needs, opportunities, and risks as part of our long-term outlook on the anime marketplace and audience. You will partner with domain leaders across the company to interpret the likely impact to our strategic positioning and communicate our selected path(s) forward. You will support Crunchyroll's executive team in realigning and reiterating our strategic priorities and helping refine our long-term company roadmap, monitoring to ensure that we remain on a trajectory to achieve our long-term winning aspiration. Reporting to the SVP of Strategy & Planning you will distill Crunchyroll's strategic imperative, positioning, and roadmap into a cohesive narrative to reinforce across our stakeholder sets - and package into appropriate formats, ranging from executive presentations to workshops and more.

The impact you will have:

  • Articulate long-term shifts in the anime ecosystem, including Crunchyroll's future positioning; distill marketplace and audience insights from external and internal sources as key input into Crunchyroll's strategic planning process
  • Translate emerging needs, opportunities, and risks for Crunchyroll into strategic options; support in facilitating executive alignment on our strategic priorities and goals and cascade into a multi-year roadmap and accompanying narrative
  • Develop strategy narrative to amplify Crunchyroll's strategic imperative, positioning, and direction across external and internal audiences with appropriate framing and clear, consistent messaging
  • Draft presentations and messaging for executive updates on relevant topics for Crunchyroll's President and COO, ranging from internal and external meetings, executive workshops, and other speaking engagements
  • Organize, and on occasion lead projects with a broad set of contributors, collecting input from relevant business and functional teams and ensuring agreement on goals, plans, and deliverables

We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • You have 12+ years of experience in management consulting or a similar strategic role at a media, entertainment, or direct-to-consumer (DTC) company; an MBA is a plus
  • You have expertise in business and growth strategy, scenario planning, roadmap development, and designing operating models
  • You are a strong communicator with experience working across functions and levels, including senior executives
  • You have a proven track record in executive communication and cross-functional stakeholder management, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear presentations, messaging, and tools that help cascade business strategy across the organization
  • You have a strong understanding of media subscription models and DTC best practices, especially in global companies with diverse consumer offerings
  • You have experience in strategic planning, business operations, or program management, and a track record of outcomes and quantifiable results
