POSITION SUMMARY:
Indivior is searching for an integrative thinker responsible for state government affairs in the West Region (AK, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY) and as part of a team covering 50 states and territories. Working alongside the broader Corporate Affairs team, the Director will be responsible for managing, engaging, and shaping relevant state and local issues in his/her territory, with a key focus on addiction policy, and on ensuring patient access to addiction treatment generally, among other goals. The position will report to the VP of State Government Affairs and will work collaboratively with commercial, market access, legal, compliance, and medical affairs. The successful candidate will elevate the political profile of Indivior with key local and state public officials and be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, and external organizations to achieve Indivior’s public policy goals. The Director will manage contract counsel in key states and work independently in others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develops and executes strategies to shape state and local public policy that deliver on enterprise priorities. This includes direct lobbying, trade association management, and engagement of third-party groups and coalitions.
- Develops both a proactive and reactive legislative agenda to create new policy frameworks to support our current product portfolio.
- Evaluate state and local political and public policy environment, determine where legislative and regulatory action is advisable and where it is not, and makes recommendations on Indivior action.
- Promotes a positive presence for Indivior among state legislators and Executive Branch personnel.
- Directs a strong network of state contract lobbyists who will further the enterprise objectives.
- Develops close working relationships with key internal business stakeholders and keen understanding of commercial strategies in the region to ensure government affairs strategies align to Indivior’s commercial objectives.
- Works collaboratively with others in the Corporate Affairs department to convert company policy positions into timely and effective advocacy strategies.
- Ensures rigorous compliance to applicable state laws and regulations for lobbyist registration, reporting, along with demonstrated integrity on the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or BA degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals, government, government affairs, public affairs, or policy. Strong preference for experience in state government - legislature, Governor’s office, agency or similar.
- Travel in the US up to 40-50%.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Previous experience in a pharmaceutical corporation or healthcare trade association preferred
- Must have demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally

- Experience managing advocacy campaigns
- Subject matter expertise in general health care issues and Medicaid
- Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions
- Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders. An ability to influence for greater outcomes
- Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented
- Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
