Director, Specialist Sales, Small and Medium Enterprises - Philippines
Mastercard is looking for a senior commercial leader to drive growth across its Small Business segment in the Philippines. Based in Manila and reporting to the Vice President, SME Business, Southeast Asia, this role is responsible for growing Mastercard's small business portfolio through strategic partnerships, market development and sales execution.
The Director will lead market strategy, support and develop local team members, and work closely with banks, fintechs, digital players and internal stakeholders to accelerate growth. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines commercial ownership, people leadership and market influence. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding Mastercard's presence within the small business segment while contributing to one of the company's fastest-growing strategic priorities across Asia Pacific.
Role
• Lead Mastercard's Small Business growth strategy in the Philippines, with accountability for business growth, portfolio performance and market expansion.• Develop and execute plans to increase spend, customer acquisition, revenue and market share across small business card solutions.• Build and strengthen partnerships with banks, fintechs, digital wallets and other ecosystem participants, with a focus on expanding Mastercard's presence across fast-growing digital commerce and wallet ecosystems.• Lead, coach and develop team members while providing strategic direction and leadership for the local Small Business business.• Act as the market expert on small business payments trends, customer needs and competitive dynamics.• Partner closely with account management, product, marketing and other cross-functional teams to bring growth initiatives to market.• Represent the Philippines market within regional discussions and provide executive-level insights, recommendations and business updates.• Support the development of differentiated solutions and value propositions that help partners attract and grow small business customers.• Champion innovative and digital payment capabilities that improve customer experience and drive adoption.• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by combining industry expertise, commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
All About You
• Proven success leading commercial growth, business development, sales or account management activities within payments, financial services, fintech or related industries.• Experience developing market strategies and delivering measurable revenue, portfolio growth or customer acquisition outcomes.• Strong leadership skills, with experience managing, coaching or developing high-performing teams strongly preferred.• Ability to build credibility and influence senior stakeholders across complex and matrixed organisations.• Strong client-facing skills with the ability to develop strategic partnerships and navigate executive-level conversations.• Commercial mindset with a track record of identifying opportunities, solving problems and converting ideas into business results.• Understanding of payments, cards, commercial banking, fintech or digital payments ecosystems.• Experience working with or partnering across digital wallets, fintech platforms, embedded finance providers, or other emerging payment ecosystems is highly valued.• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for different audiences.• Data-driven decision-making skills and the ability to transform insights into actionable business recommendations.• Self-motivated, collaborative and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 8 years of work experience
- 10-12 years experience or 8-10 years with advanced degree (preferred)
- Relevant industry experience (payments, cards, financial services, fintech, startups)
- Deep knowledge of payment market products and programs (issuer and end-user perspectives)
- Experience in product strategy, product development and go-to-market execution
- Proven market development and sales management skills to drive new wins and revenue
- Cross-functional collaboration with account teams, marketing, finance, legal and delivery
- Strong research, analytical and management reporting skills; ability to derive insights from granular data
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Champion digital enablement (digital-first solutions, contactless, tokenization) and drive adoption
- Self-motivated, team player able to operate in cross-functional environments
