Director of Special Events and Promotions (37165)

Job Description Summary

Oversees all aspects of creation, development, implementation and management of all promotional and special events for property. Must effectively manage, track and report on all aspects of promotional and entertainment events and provide additional support to overall management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Department leader for Special Events and Promotions
• Develop department business plans for Promotions/Special Events.
• Effectively and efficiently track and report results for all property promotions and entertainment events.
• Manage the implementation of special programs, promotions, and event calendars to stimulate and optimize business opportunities.
• Manage, track and report on all aspects of promotional and special events.
• In collaboration with the Director of Casino Marketing Strategy, reviews promotion activity to determine changes in marketing programs as required.
• Oversee the tracking and execution of all pertinent invoices and bills with regard to approved promotional and special events.
• Coordinate with necessary approved external vendors and internal departments to ensure efficiency of all events and promotions.
• Oversee ticketing procedures, setup and sales for promotional events.
• Monitor expenses versus budget figures to ensure compliance.
• In collaboration with the Director of Casino Marketing Strategy and above, assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures for Special Events department.
• Coordinate, direct and evaluate department staff in the areas of policies, procedures and job performance. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, and internal controls.
• Provides excellent guest service.
• Must comply with all applicable ACCRS and SRC System of Internal Controls, Standard Operating Procedures and all Tribal Regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage and supervise Marketing Coordinator subordinates in the Marketing and Player Development Department.

Carries out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work and performance reviews for Marketing Coordinator subordinates.

Required Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 4-6 years Casino entertainment and/or promotional experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 4 years of marketing/promotion managerial experience with responsibilities including team member supervision, goal setting and alignment, and budget.
• Must have excellent organizational skills, computer literate, the ability to work with all departments and have excellent customer relation skills.
• Must be able to communicate in English.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and properties, including walking up to 1 ½ mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/workstation for the duration of the shift.  Must be able to work in a smoke-filled environment.

Typically, the individual will be housed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but will escalate when located in the casino environment.  Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to: a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.
