As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Banking unit's Broker Dealer Platform, you will lead a critical technical area and drive transformational impact across teams, technologies, and projects. In this senior leadership role, you will leverage your deep expertise in software engineering, system architecture, and product management to orchestrate multiple complex initiatives focused on post-trade operations and legacy system modernization. You will serve as a primary decision maker, strategic visionary, and champion of innovation, leading your organization to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance operational efficiency, reduce risk, and position the firm at the forefront of financial technology. This role demands a leader who can balance technical excellence with business acumen, inspire high-performing teams, and navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance while driving the adoption of modern cloud-native architectures and AI-enabled transformation.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops and execute comprehensive technology strategies that align with organizational goals, with particular emphasis on post-trade process optimization and legacy system transformation initiatives
- Identifies and champion opportunities for technology innovation, automation, and modernization across post-trade operations to drive competitive advantage
- Leads the evaluation, selection, and implementation of modern technology solutions that enhance system performance, scalability, security, and resilience
- Spearheads initiatives to transform legacy technology systems to contemporary cloud-native platforms, ensuring seamless migration with minimal business disruption
- Drives continuous improvement in straight-through processing (STP) rates through intelligent automation and the implementation of programmatic controls and guardrails that systematically reduce operational risk
- Oversees the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology projects, particularly those involving post-trade processes and legacy system modernization
- Ensures all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and exceed quality standards while maintaining alignment with business objectives
- Establishes and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure project success and operational efficiency
- Identifies opportunities to streamline and automate post-trade workflows, improving efficiency and enforcing robust controls across the technology landscape
- Builds manages, and inspire a high-performing organization of software engineers, technical leads, and architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Demonstrate excellence in hiring, developing, and recognizing top talent while creating clear career progression pathways. Mentor and coach team members to enhance their technical capabilities and leadership skills
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, senior management, and business stakeholders to understand technology needs, priorities, and strategic objectives. Articulate complex technology strategies and initiatives-particularly those related to post-trade operations and legacy transformation-to diverse audiences including executive leadership
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization
- Proven track record of developing and leading cross-functional, high-performing technology teams in fast-paced, complex environments
- Demonstrated success in hiring, developing, mentoring, and recognizing exceptional talent while building diverse and inclusive teams
- Experience leading products in a Product Owner or Product Manager capacity, with strong understanding of product lifecycle management
- Hands-on practical experience with cloud-native architectures and deep expertise in solution design using hybrid cloud environments (on-premises and public cloud).
- Deep familiarity with post-trade technology platforms, systems, and workflows specific to broker-dealer operations
- Experience in and usage of AI tooling in the aspect of modernization is critical as well
- Demonstrated track record of successfully leading technology teams and large-scale projects, particularly in post-trade processes and legacy system transformation leveraging AI and modern engineering tools
- Experience working within a leading financial services organization with understanding of the regulatory and operational complexities of the industry
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect technology initiatives to business outcomes and articulate value to stakeholders
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire at all organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern technology solutions and architectural patterns for legacy system transformation, including microservices, event-driven architectures, and containerization. Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices
- Direct awareness and hands-on experience with multiple post-trade processes including trade capture and enrichment, product and reference data management, clearing and settlement, accounting and bookkeeping, and regulatory reporting
- Knowledge of industry-standard frameworks and best practices for technology governance, architecture review, and technical risk management
- Track record of driving cultural transformation and change management in large, complex organizations
