The Role

Proofpoint is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and technically experienced Director of Software Engineering with the ability to drive change and make things happen.  You are passionate about building quality products, a diverse and collaborative team, and meaningful software products.  The successful candidate will be part of our senior management team. We are looking for a leader to help steward our software development team on our continued path of growth and scalability.

Your day-to-day

• Lead an experienced team of Software Engineers by providing leadership, guidance and enabling the team to deliver to their full potential.
• Work closely with the Product, and Architecture teams to create, innovative and deliver on roadmap
• Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with other teams.
• Lead change in seeking out continuous improvements and champion the adoption of best practices
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, ownership, innovation, trust, and the continuous drive toward excellence to promote teams to be empowered to produce high quality results on schedule.
• Accountable for maintaining a high standard of product quality and code health.
• Manage, coach and mentor the team to help all with their professional development.
• Develop, maintain and publish project KPI’s that track project quality, delivery and predictability.
• Establish regular communication with the team and key stakeholders to provide project status updates.
• Identify risks, gaps or blind spots in your teams’ resources, skills, tooling, supporting information systems and action to close those gaps

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C/C++, C#).
• Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps).
• Familiarity with OS platforms (Windows, MAC, Linux).
• Proven track record of managing software development teams and software managers.
• Experience in project management and delivering projects on time.
• Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
• Experience in aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
• Ability to drive innovation and implement new technologies.
• Strong understanding of market trends and customer needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Developed analytical skills to address complex technical challenges.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
