About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced technical leader to join our App Platform & Experiences team as Director of Engineering. On this team, you'll own, operate, and evolve systems and code bases that power our web and native client infrastructure, along with the core customer experiences that build on that infrastructure and ensure rapid product development and iteration. You'll work with cross-functional partners to define and guide a vision for the next-generation of these systems and experiences, working backward from multi-year product and business goals. You'll transform that vision into a strategy and plan, working with your teams to lead execution through a long-term roadmap. As a senior technical leader, you'll continuously improve our operational excellence, enabling and supporting our continued, rapid business growth.

You Will:

  • Define a multi-year technology strategy to meet customer needs
  • Promote technical innovation by enabling your teams to evaluate new technologies, tools, and processes
  • Lead on decisions related to Remitly's technical direction and strategy
  • Foster and grow the next generation of leadership talent across the company
  • Ensure your managers are on top of employee development, promotion, and happiness
  • Create a positive and rewarding environment for your teams
  • Establish domain and team health expectations and goals
  • Define and meet the hiring plan for the team, accounting for long-term needs
  • Break down walls to ensure everyone works together for the good of the company

You Have:

  • 8+ years of technical leadership experience
  • 5+ years of managing multiple teams and domains
  • Experience hiring and leading Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers
  • Experience with engineering workforce planning and design
  • Examples of creating customer experiences and building distributed systems
  • Experience working with executives to align technical goals with business goals
  • Experience with evolving industry standards and technologies

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $190,000-$250,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
