Director, Software Engineer in Test

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer in Test leader, who can support the Engineering Excellence Team’s Vision to: Measurably improve delivery velocity and the quality of Fidelity Wealth’s digital and associate products. The outcome of this role will accelerate the delivery of stable, high-quality products to our customers.
The Role
Fidelity Investments is seeking a Director of Software Engineer in Test, who has a blend of deep software engineering and software testing experience and identifies opportunities to leverage Generative AI to reduce manual test authoring effort and expand test coverage. This role will drive test engineering strategies across multiple customer products to accelerate delivery velocity while elevating product quality. In addition, the role will have 10-18 direct reports and dotted-line relationships with team members in India. The technical area of expertise required is broad and includes supporting applications ranging in the following: front end customer facing, mobile and web based, content, communication, vendor supported, and data analytics platforms.
The Expertise You Have
- Demonstrated experience implementing Customer Experience, API and / or Mobile based test solutions
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing program level test strategy across integrated systems
- Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining data quality frameworks
- Knowledgeable with end-to-end DevOps automation with CI and CD pipelines including unit, component, functional, performance, and security test automation
- Expertise in using mock frameworks and service virtualization
- Good knowledge of resiliency software engineering and observability patterns
- Certifications in, or working experience with, AWS/Azure
- Deep, hands-on experience with Generative AI coding tools, including GitHub Copilot, for accelerating test development, test coverage analysis, and code review within engineering teams
- Demonstrated ability to champion a Copilot-first engineering culture, including defining team-level standards of AI-assisted test authoring, prompt engineering for test generation, and responsible use guardrails
- Ability to define governance and quality standards for AI-generated code and test artifacts, ensuring maintainability, security, and accuracy across the team
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of building trusted partnerships and relationships at all levels of the organization
- Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams
- Proven expertise in hiring and identifying top engineering talent
The Team
The Engineering Excellence (EE) team resides in the Fidelity Wealth (FW) business unit of Fidelity Investments. The team consists of over 170 multi-stacked engineers with a passion around customer experience and with the engineering tool set to seek challenges including: Automated testing, performance testing, chaos testing, application cloud migration and management, CI / CD implementation, security testing and application development. The team embeds domain specialists across all FW delivery teams, ensuring the highest standards of quality, security, stability and customer experience. The supported applications include but are not limited to web-based applications, API based applications, and cloud-based solutions.
The EE team is actively investing in AI-assisted engineering practices. This leader will play a central role in evaluating emerging GenAI capabilities, rolling out GitHub Copilot adoptions across the chapter, and establishing metrics that demonstrate the impact of AI tooling on test velocity, coverage, and quality outcomes.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
