Job Description

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank Stratus Authorization team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Manage agile software delivery teams and partnering with the Product partners to drive technology delivery.
  • Owns complete end-to-end responsibility of delivery of technical solutions to business/product owners.
  • Assess and manages a strong pool of talent in order to build a diverse and inclusive team and culture within the organization.
  • Leads all aspects of technology delivery including planning and execution of monthly/ad-hoc production releases.
  • Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives.



  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Experience in leading & ensuring production stability, scalability and security of large/critical platform knowledge in C/C++ programming, Unix.
  • Leadership experience in Acquiring Payments and leading Authorization platforms directly working with merchants and solutioning for merchant needs
  • Experience migrating existing merchants to modern platforms
  • Architect and build highly resilient, highly available and highly scalable strategy to handle 10k TPS volume with auto-scale, failover and hot/hot strategies with zero downtime, high throughput and response times in milliseconds
  • Experience leading complex projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability



  • Experience working at code level
  • Experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization.
  • Prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale.
