Job Purpose and Impact
  • The Director of Software Engineering - Food leads the execution of the tactical and strategic plans related to developing and delivering digital products while meeting quality standards and deadlines. This job leads and guides the software engineering team to deliver against product planning and prioritization, fostering collaboration with cross functional teams and allocating resources effectively to achieve optimal efficiency. This job provides technical direction for software engineering projects, assures the adoption of best in-class industry standards, and cultivates a culture of continuous improvement in the development process.

Key Accountabilities
  • TECHNICAL PRODUCT MANAGEMENT: Oversees the planning, implementation and delivery of software projects, including resource allocation, to ensure they are completed on time and within scope.
  • TECHNICAL GUIDANCE: Applies expertise in software development and deployment automation to provide technical direction and support to the engineering team, writing clean, maintainable and efficient code such as small prototypes, utilities, tools and proposals with code and advancing the teams capability.
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE: Oversees and validates to ensure the quality and performance of software applications through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to best in class industry standards.
  • PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Leads continuous improvement initiatives and guides the implementation of approved standards to improve software development and deployment processes and operational excellence.
  • COLLABORATION: Cultivates collaboration with product managers, designers and other cross functional teams to gather requirements, set priorities, and deliver resolutions to meet business objectives.
  • DOCUMENTATION: Oversees and guides the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for software applications, deployment processes, and system configurations.
  • TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Oversees and guides technical support and troubleshooting for deployed appications for minimal downtime and fast resolution of issues.
  • TEAM MANAGEMENT: Manages team members to achieve the organization's goals, by allocating resources, ensuring productivity, communicating performance expectations, creating goal alignment, giving and seeking feedback, providing coaching, measuring progress and holding people accountable, supporting employee development, recognizing achievement and lessons learned, and developing enabling conditions for talent to thrive in an inclusive team culture.

Qualifications
  • Minimum requirements of 6 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 10 years or more of relevant experience.
  • Experience delivering software products in cross-functional environments, working with product, design, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in matrixed global organizations and managing stakeholders across technology, regional commercial teams, enterprise partners, and external providers.

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Experience applying emerging AI-enabled capabilities and new ways of working.
  • Experience leading seasoned digital product teams across multiple geographies.
  • Strong product and digital leadership: Able to lead complex product portfolios, translate business needs into clear digital outcomes, and guide teams through modernization, platform evolution, and customer experience improvements.
  • Transformation mindset and execution discipline: Comfortable operating in ambiguity, shaping new operating models, driving adoption, and moving strategic work from concept into practical execution with clear ownership and follow-through
  • Business partnership and stakeholder alignment: Experience in working in matrix organizations and managing stakeholders across DT&D, regional commercial teams, enterprise partners, and external providers.
  • People leadership and talent development: Experience in coaching, team engagement, accountability, and leadership development; creates an environment where team members can grow, lead, and deliver at a high standard.
  • Global and culturally adaptive communication: Communicates with clarity, empathy, and flexibility across regions and cultures; balances urgency and directness with active listening, relationship building, and awareness of local context.
  • Forward-looking curiosity and AI readiness: Shows curiosity for emerging technology, especially AI-enabled capabilities and new ways of working, while remaining grounded in business value, adoption, and practical impact.

Additional Applicant Information
The expected salary for this position is $170,000 - $210,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance. Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law. This role is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
