Director, Software Development

Job Description:

NextGen is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to oversee a portfolio of healthcare interoperability products and guide these products and teams into the future. Reporting directly to the VP of Enterprise Architecture and Technology Strategy, this is a highly visible role providing the right candidate a chance to build the shared services platform that will power NextGen for years to come.
This role will be responsible for the management of the full software development lifecycle for a large API solution and four stand-alone products in the healthcare interoperability space. The products have a variety of tech stacks and deployment mechanisms, meaning the ideal candidate will be technical and able to shift between different mental models easily. The ability to function within a matrixed environment is also key to succeeding in this role. You will drive the continual improvement of the developer experience for shared services projects within NextGen.

Responsibilities and Capabilities:

• Experience with the US Healthcare System, especially regulatory requirements.
• Experience with multi-team planning and coordination using the Scaled Agile framework or similar
• Experience with Scrum and Kanban
• Experience managing multiple teams across different tech stacks and deployment models
• Ability to collaborate closely with counterparts across India and the US
• Establish customer support policies and procedures, including the ability to work support between US and India time zones.
• Ability to understand the maturity of each team, and work with that team’s manager to create plans to upskill each team member. Conduct constructive performance reviews.
• Work with senior leadership and cross-functional peers to develop metrics for measuring the outcomes and maturity of the Interoperability organization’s teams.
• High-level understanding of APIs and event-driven architectures.
• High-level understanding of cloud environments and the unit economics of SaaS businesses
