Job Description: 

Are You the Person We Are Looking For?


BlackBerry AtHoc is seeking a highly experienced engineering leader to drive the technical strategy, architecture, and evolution of our mission-critical emergency notification platform. This role requires a seasoned technology leader with deep expertise in enterprise software development, geospatial technologies, government-grade security, and large-scale engineering team leadership.


What You'll Do
- Define and execute the technical vision and architecture roadmap for BlackBerry AtHoc's mass notification platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and resilience for government, defense, and enterprise customers.
- Lead and mentor globally distributed engineering teams, including onsite and offshore resources, while driving accountability for delivery, quality, and operational excellence.
- Architect and deliver high-volume geospatial and mapping capabilities, including integrations with third-party mapping platforms and location-based services.
- Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, developing prototypes, and translating customer and market requirements into differentiated product capabilities.
- Ensure products meet stringent security, compliance, and accreditation requirements, including FedRAMP and other regulatory standards critical to public sector customers.
- Drive engineering excellence across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through deployment and sustaining engineering.


What You Bring

- Extensive, proven experience architecting and delivering large-scale enterprise software platforms, with significant experience leading the technical direction of mission-critical SaaS applications.

- Deep expertise in geospatial technologies and location-based services, including GIS data, mapping platforms, and third-party mapping integrations that support situational awareness and emergency response capabilities.

- Proven leadership of global engineering teams, with experience setting technical direction, mentoring senior engineers, and delivering complex software releases across distributed organizations.

- Strong background in secure software development and regulatory compliance, including experience supporting government, defense, or other highly regulated environments with requirements such as FedRAMP.


Nice to Have

- Experience with mass notification, critical event management, emergency communications, or public safety solutions.

- Experience supporting U.S. Federal, Defense, Homeland Security, or emergency management customers.

- Expertise in real-time communication systems, large-scale notification delivery, or location-aware alerting technologies.

- Patents, invention disclosures, or a demonstrated track record of technical innovation and product advancement.

Compensation Hiring Base Pay Range:

$210,600 - 283,500


Please be advised that the compensation hiring range indicated herein is provided solely as a good-faith estimate of anticipated base compensation for the position. The actual compensation offered will be determined at the time of hire and is contingent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and results of assessments conducted during the hiring process.


Bonus:

The BlackBerry Variable Incentive Pay (VIP) program is an organization-wide bonus incentive program which aims to reward full-time eligible employees for their contribution to BlackBerry’s success. VIP payments are made in addition to base salary and factor in company’s performance as a way for employees to share in BlackBerry’s achievements.
