Director of Social Work and Therapies

Salary Range: 140,000-155,000
Saint Joseph’s Medical Center is seeking an experienced, highly qualified, operationally sound individual for the position of Director of Social Work and Therapies. This position will clinically and administratively oversee the social work, discharge planning, counseling, and creative arts therapists assigned to the inpatient hospital units at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center and at St. Vincent’s Hospital. The Director of Social Work and Therapies will also work collaboratively with and support the leadership of the various outpatient mental health and substance use programs and centers regarding clinical practice initiatives, transitions of care, productivity, and programming.
Examples of Duties:
- Provides clinical and administrative oversight for inpatient psychiatric hospital social workers, counselors, therapists, and discharge planners.
- Oversees and coordinates disposition/discharge planning services for the inpatient psychiatric units at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center and St. Vincent’s Hospital.
- Monitors, coordinates, and develops inpatient group programming services.
- Establish disposition planning expectations and standards for the inpatient psychiatric units.
- Conducts outreach, coordination, and collaboration with community referral sources (internal and external to the medical center), community stakeholders, and local, county, and state officials to support the alignment of inpatient discharge planning with community mental health services.
- Monitors programming and disposition planning data and outcome measures to include readmission rates and works with multi-disciplinary treatment teams and patients to enhance disposition planning success.
- Provides support, guidance, and collaborates with Administrative Directors, Program Directors, and other managers/disciplines regarding social work clinical practice issues, best practices, programming, and standards.
- Provides clinical supervision for social workers, therapists, counselors.
- Coordinates programming and training for staff.
- Formulates program goals and objectives.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Ten (10) years of professional experience in behavioral health care and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
Four (4) years of the professional experience must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity directing clinical operations or the delivery of behavioral health care services. This includes the supervision of professional behavioral health care staff.
Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State.
Experience with monitoring and meeting regulatory requirements and benchmarks.
Pay Range$140,000 - $155,000
