Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Dean of Nursing Programs, the Director of the Simulation Lab designs, develops, implements and evaluates scenarios, simulated learning activities and educational materials for all nursing courses in collaboration with nursing faculty.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Collaborates with faculty to provide consistent, consecutive and relevant student learning experiences to meet course and clinical objectives in the simulation lab.

· Develops course schedule for clinical simulation experiences for all nursing students.

· Meets with faculty prior to each quarter to review and approve appropriate simulation cases. Assures learning objectives for each simulation case are appropriately mapped to the nursing curricula, syllabi and program outcomes.

· Oversees and contributes to the evaluation of students during campus skills and simulation activities.

· Provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth.

· Participates in training as necessary; attending conferences and or seminars to stay current with technologies and education modalities.

· Facilitates orientation to simulation lab to nursing faculty, nursing students, staff and others as needed.

· Oversees the training of nursing faculty, staff and students in operational aspects of the simulation lab /center.

· Understands and does basic troubleshooting of simulation camera system and software.

· Ensures submission of monthly simulation reports to the campus Dean and National Director of Nursing Operations.

· Provides input for budget preparation regarding equipment, supplies and materials for simulation and basic nursing lab.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Regular and reliable attendance.



Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:

· Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state.

· BSN required; a Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred or as required by the state.

· A terminal degree or active pursuit of a terminal degree is preferred.

· Minimum of two years of didactic or clinical nursing teaching experience.

· Current CPR certification as a healthcare provider.

· Successful completion of a criminal background check.

· Current clinical nursing knowledge within area of specialty and ongoing maintenance of clinical competency.

· Recent clinical experience in area of specialty as required by accrediting bodies.

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through learning technologies such as computers and e-mail.

· Ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, and students as a member of a team.



Classification: Exempt


Work Hours: May vary, daily and evening and weekend hours may be required, depending on the staffing needs of the school’s simulation lab.


Travel: None


Working Environment: Interior.

Skills Required

  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • Master's degree in Nursing, if required by the state
