Job Summary
We are seeking an institutional sales at Director or Senior Director level to join our Hong Kong or Singapore office. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for expanding Barings’ presence among institutional investors across Greater China with a particular focus on Corporates, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Central banks and Insurance Companies and other strategic investors.
The role will play a key part in driving fundraising and business development efforts across Barings' alternative investment platform, including private credit, real estate, asset-based finance and other private market strategies. The successful candidate will be expected to originate new opportunities and contribute to the long-term growth of Barings' institutional business in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead high-potential client opportunities, leveraging deep market insights to develop and execute targeted business development strategies for Corporates, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Central banks and Insurance Companies across Barings’ investment offerings.
- Proven fundraising experience in alternative investments and established relationships with corporate treasury teams, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors would be highly desirable.
- Able to manage and lead through the end-of-end sales process, from initial prospect engagement to handling requests for information (RFIs/RFPs), conducting investor due diligence, and coordinating onboarding with internal teams.
- Execute and organize impactful fundraising roadshow and contribute to marketing strategies that elevate Barings’ brand and generate new business opportunities.
Key Requirements
- More than 10 years of institutional sales experience with a strong track record in fundraising and investor relations, particularly within the asset management industry.
- Well-established and active connections with institutional clients and limited partners, with demonstrated success in cultivating relationships with Corporates, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and other key investors.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising and distribution of alternative investment products, including private credit, real estate, infrastructure, structured capital or other private market strategies.
- Existing relationships with corporate treasury teams, insurance companies, pension funds, MPF Trustees and other institutional investors would be highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in Chinese is required to communicate with Chinese-speaking clients in Greater China
- High-energy, exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Sound judgment and adept problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently navigate complex client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
