Title and Summary
Director, SEC Reporting
The Director, SEC Reporting, reports to the VP, Controller - Financial Reporting, leads a team responsible for the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements, ensuring that the reports, filings and documentation comply with the Company's accounting policies, U.S. GAAP, and the reporting requirements of the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC).
Role
• Prepare and file SEC documents, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, Proxy and other filings, as needed.• Responsible for the completeness, accuracy and fair presentation of
Company's financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.• Partner with Tax, FP&A, Treasury, Regional Controllership, Investor Relations, Legal and GBSC to ensure SEC filings have captured key activities within the quarter.• Lead Disclosure Committee meetings presenting technical accounting,
complex transactions and disclosure related items to key Finance executives.• Responsible to prepare quarterly Audit Committee materials.• Consult with both internal and external legal counsel on matters related to the
Company's filings with the SEC.• Responsible for maintaining an effective control environment over financial
reporting including quality control for all SEC reporting and external facing
financial information.• Leverage technology and automation to ensure best-in-class external
reporting practices.• Keep abreast of new SEC and FASB disclosure requirements and updating SEC
documents as necessary.• Perform bench marking against peer groups to ensure the Company is using
best practice disclosures.• Complete special requests from Senior Management for analysis, research,
and detailed information, including other projects deemed necessary.• Work with our Legal and Sustainability groups to deliver accurate reporting for
the Proxy and Sustainability Reports including building a sustainable
infrastructure & controls environment.• Support training on new accounting pronouncements and corporate policies.• Interface with external auditors regarding the application of generally
accepted accounting principles and matters.• Coach, mentor and train SEC Reporting team members.
All About You• Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA required.• Senior Manager or equivalent level at big 4 public accounting firm or similar
financial reporting experience in a large public company with strong skills in
technical accounting and SEC regulations.• Self-motivated, innovative thinker demonstrating ability to apply technical
standards and concepts to complex, critical business matters.• Strong project management skills.• Ability to collaborate with different individuals across the organization, and
ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others to achieve
objectives. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.• Team oriented individual that can build strong, long-term relationships
worldwide across varying geographies and functions.• Self-motivated with ability to meet project deliverables.• Proficiency with researching accounting literature including FASB, SEC, AICPA.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
Pay Ranges
Purchase, New York: $163,000 - $269,000 USD

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA certification
  • Senior Manager or equivalent experience at a Big Four public accounting firm, or similar financial reporting experience at a large public company
  • Strong technical accounting and SEC regulations expertise
  • Ability to apply technical standards and concepts to complex business matters
