Your role and responsibilities


In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and execute an effective sales strategy for the Process Industries Division across North and East India, expanding ABB’s market share and supporting sustainable business growth. Each day, you will define, plan, lead, and ensure the execution of sales strategies to meet qualitative and quantitative sales targets for products, systems, and services, ensuring sustainable order growth, revenue, profitability, market share, sales productivity, and customer satisfaction.


You will also showcase your leadership skills by managing, developing, and coaching the Sales organization, including sales managers and sales specialists within your scope, to meet business targets through effective teamwork.

This role is contributing to the Process Industries Division in North and East India. The position will support business across the Metals, Mining, Mineral Processing, Cement, Pulp and Paper, and Hydrogen industry segments. Main stakeholders include customers, sales teams, sales managers, product management, business area/division teams, and cross-functional ABB teams.


You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Developing and implementing the overall sales and business development strategy for the Process Industries Division across North and East India.
  • Supporting the Sales organization to meet order volume, revenue, profitability, and product mix targets.
  • Identifying and evaluating new business opportunities with existing and potential customers and developing appropriate plans and resources for execution.
  • Managing project pursuit activities and related sales initiatives to sustain business growth.
  • Anticipating and identifying performance shortfalls and taking appropriate corrective and remedial actions in a timely manner.
  • Building and maintaining close relationships with key decision-makers in existing and potential customer organizations.
  • Improving customer satisfaction and ensuring a high level of customer engagement and experience.
  • Participating in the negotiation of key contracts and strategic customer engagements.
  • Managing direct reports and ensuring meeting revenue and profitability targets.
  • Coaching, motivating, and developing direct and indirect reports in line with ABB policies and leadership principles.
  • Building effective, skilled, and capable teams through continuous development and capability building.
  • Reviewing organizational effectiveness, conducting competency assessments, and supporting continuous skill upgrades.
  • Promoting collaboration across divisions, business areas, and teams to improve business results for ABB.
  • Ensuring adherence to ABB’s core values, Code of Conduct, integrity standards, HSE requirements, and applicable global and local policies and processes.

Qualifications for the role

  • You have 15+ years of relevant sales experience in industrial automation, electrification, or related technology-driven industries, with experience in sales strategy, business development, project pursuit, customer relationship management, and meeting revenue and profitability targets.
  • You have experience in selling automation solutions and services and electrification solutions, including switchgear, drives, motors, and related industrial solutions.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of leadership and team management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop effective sales teams.
  • You have a solid understanding of the Process Industries market, with experience in sectors such as Metals, Mining, Mineral Processing, Cement, Pulp and Paper, and Hydrogen.
  • You demonstrate a strategic mindset, a customer-focused approach, collaboration, consistency, and well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across divisions, business areas, functions, and customer organizations.
  • You have well-developed presentation, verbal and written communication, self-management, and the ability to manage several priorities at once, and are comfortable working in a constantly evolving business environment.
  • You have a Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or an equivalent qualification, are comfortable communicating in English, and are willing to travel 30–40% of the time across the assigned region and customer locations.
