Job Description

Rixos Baghdad is seeking a visionary and decisive Director of Rooms to join our leadership team in Baghdad, Iraq. As the Director of Rooms, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the rooms division, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and driving operational excellence.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of:
    • All hotel features/services
    • All room types, numbers, layout, décor, appointments and locations
    • All room rates, special packages and promotions
    • Daily house count and expected arrivals/departures
    • Previous day’s pickup and anticipated business levels
    • Room availability status for any given day
    • Scheduled in-house group activities, locations and times
    • All hotel and divisional policies and procedures
    • Monthly forecast and budget items
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize room revenue and occupancy rates
  • Ensure the highest standards of customer service and guest satisfaction
  • Oversee the creation and management of departmental budgets
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless hotel operations
  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff to build a high-performing team
  • Stay current with industry trends and implement innovative practices
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and security regulations
  • Represent the hotel in various industry forums and networking events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or relevant hospitality certifications preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in hotel management, with prior experience as Director of Rooms or equivalent role
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting and revenue management
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and systems
  • In-depth knowledge of hotel operations and best practices
  • Understanding of local hospitality market trends and competition in Baghdad and Iraq
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is highly advantageous
