Within Capital One Auto's Dealer Data Strategy & Product Operations team, we are seeking a Director of Risk Management to drive risk strategy at the intersection of data and emerging technology. This role requires deep data domain knowledge, a passion for AI integration, and strong expertise in navigating enterprise risk frameworks. Beyond ensuring compliance with existing policies, you will proactively identify and mitigate emerging risk vectors as our data and AI capabilities evolve. You will partner closely with product, tech, and data teams to embed forward-looking risk controls directly into our operational ecosystem.
Directors in Risk Management at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.
Responsibilities:

• Work with business partners to validate risk processes impacting the companies bottom line
• Consult with Executives to determine interaction model with Lines of Business to create positive relationships
• Drive finalization of risk category and sub-category framework
• Perform critical assessments on risk categories to mitigate risk to the company
• Perform extensive gap assessments and create recommendations to ensure smart business decisions
• Use analytical skills to conduct Risk Process Improvement, Process Design & Process Excellence
• Large scale Process Management/Governance
• Work with dynamic teams on Departmental Process Management & Execution

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or military experience
• At least 5 years of experience in Project Management or Process Management
• At least 2 years experience in Operations Management
• At least 2 years experience in People Management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or Project Management
• 4+ years experience in People Management
• 5+ years of experience as a Project or Process Manager within the financial services industry
• 5+ years experience in Operations Management
• 10+ years of overall experience as Project or Process Manager
• Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, Agile Coach certification, Compliance Certification (CRCM)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Risk Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
