We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Resource Utilization who will lead efforts to ensure generation, demand response, storage, and other capacity resources are effectively utilized across the ISO/RTO footprint. This role will oversee how resources are scheduled, dispatched, accredited, and evaluated to align with market rules, operational needs, and reliability standards. Through strong strategic leadership, technical oversight, and collaboration across teams, the Director will work to optimize resource performance while supporting the long-term reliability and efficiency of the power system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute long-term operational strategies aligned with corporate goals and industry trends.
  • Change Management: Lead transformational initiatives to modernize grid systems, optimize performance, and enhance system resilience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to influence outcomes and foster alignment.
  • Operational Excellence: Establishes scalable processes and clear operational frameworks that bring structure to complex and evolving work, using data, dashboards, and technology to drive informed decisions while embedding strong process discipline, continuous improvement, and built-in compliance to ensure consistent, high-quality execution across the function.
  • Organizational Development: Build and mentor high-performing teams, cultivating leadership capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and community outreach to advocate for operational priorities.

    The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $196,000-$221,000 USD annually.  Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.

    Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.  At MISO we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.

    Qualifications Education Required Bachelors or better. Bachelors or better. Bachelors or better. Experience Required Experience managing technical teams and complex analytical programs. Experience in resource adequacy, planning, operations, or market functions within an ISO/RTO or utility. Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% as needed to support stakeholder engagement and organizational priorities. Knowledge of emerging technologies, including storage, hybrid resources, and distributed energy resources. Skilled at working with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and cross-functional technical teams. Deep understanding of power system operations, resource accreditation, and performance valuation.
