Raytheon’s Naval Power (NP) business unit is seeking a Director, Requirements and Capabilities (R&C) – Naval Air Missiles, AIM-9X / JSOW to lead business strategy, capture, and portfolio growth across AIM‑9X and Joint Standoff Weapons (JSOW). This senior leader will drive domestic and international customer engagement, shape future capability needs, and orchestrate cross-business alignment to position Raytheon as the premier provider of advanced weapon effectors.

This Director role provides strategic leadership across multiple product lines and technology transition pathways, ensuring Raytheon’s investments, roadmaps, and captures deliver decisive competitive advantage for the warfighter.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the strategic growth for AIM‑9X and JSOW product families
  • Shape long‑range investment strategies and influence internal technology roadmaps in partnership with Engineering, Strategy, and Program leadership
  • Evaluate emerging threats and capability gaps to guide investments and business growth planning
  • Oversee multi-program pursuit and capture activities; develop discriminating strategies to position Raytheon to win across high‑value opportunities.
  • Lead intelligence gathering across multiple competitive landscapes to support strategic decision-making and targeted investments
  • Drive RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM) by leading and supporting independent reviews, gates, proposal development, and executive decision briefings for opportunities across the product family
  • Coordinate with functional leaders in NP and associated programs on all activities related to meeting performance objectives, managing pursuits, supporting domestic and international effector captures
  • Focus on the customer, understand their environment, threat capabilities, problems, priorities, limitations, and requirements
  • Develop and implement internal and external customer contact plans
  • Collaborate with RTX Global Government Relations (GGR) at the Federal, State/Local on Public Policy in their advocation and development of new technologies
  • Approximately 40% annual domestic and international travel for customer engagements and tradeshows
  • Possible Work Locations: VA- Arlington, TX - McKinney or AZ - Tucson
     

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum of 14 years' experience working with DoD, or an Advanced Degree and minimum of 12 years' experience
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in business development, program management, government relations with DoD services, or Defense Agency acquisition
  • Former US Military Officer with operational experience in air-launched weapons employment (AIM-9X, JSOW)
  • Experience developing senior-level customer relationships across U.S. and international customers
  • Experience with DoD acquisition (domestic and international) or requirement resourcing and development process

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Ability to integrate across engineering, strategy, and program execution functions.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate competitor capabilities, market shifts, and emerging threats.
  • Proven ability to develop effective professional relationships through personal influence
  • Ability to effectively translate voice-of-the-warfighter inputs into strategic discriminators
  • Previous operational experience in tactical strike fighter platforms

The salary range for this role is 186,200 USD - 353,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
