GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
With general direction and limited supervision by Senior Director Professional Services and in collaboration with the Medical Director of Radiology, the Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Department inclusive of administrative and technical operations in all Radiology settings within the Driscoll Health System. He or she maintains a system for reporting results of all medical imaging studies and the billing procedures associated with these procedures. The Director is responsible for the performance level of all staff members in accordance with established quality standards ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. He or she is responsible for safety of
patients, staff, and visitors within radiology services system wide. He or she utilizes effective planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of process improvement mechanisms to ensure that efficient and effective patient care services are provided while enhancing the attainment of hospital and individual
personnel objectives.
 

The Director will perform other duties as deemed necessary.

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Actively participles in hospital/departmental committee and group meetings with a focus on improving the quality of patient care services.
  • Determines personnel requirements for the department and recommends/implements policies/procedures to maintain adequate staffing
  • Formulates individual positions required within department/sections
  • Interviews and hires applicants, within Human Resources policies
  • Recommends the addition/deletion of positions within the department based on operational and quality requirements
  • Follows established Human Resources policies for the evaluation, promotion, demotion, or termination of employees.
  • In collaboration with Administration and the Medical Director, plans, directs, and supervises all technical and administrative aspects of the department
    Provides overall direction necessary to ensure radiological services are provided in accordance with standards established by the hospital, federal, state and regulatory agencies.
    Facilitates communication between the department’s members of the medical staff, administration, and other hospital departments and outside agencies to enhance patient care services
    Maintains all operational policies and procedures within the department to ensure the provision of safe and efficient patient care services.
    Recommends equipment purchases/modifications to ensure availability of appropriate patient services while maintaining cost effectiveness.
    Creates and maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
    Under the guidance of the Radiation Safety Officer, is responsible for radiation safety in the hospital through personnel monitoring and monitoring of equipment performance and the formulation of appropriate policies regarding radiation safety and education of personnel.
    Directs the preparation and maintenance of routine departmental records and reports as well as special and periodic reports and/or analyses.
    Develops annual departmental statistical, capital, personnel and operational budgets.
    Assumes responsibility for departmental equipment and supply purchases; maintains appropriate supply levels

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related
  • experience and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Highly knowledgeable in the principles and operations of imaging equipment.
  • Specialized knowledge of the principles of computer applications in medical imaging.
  • Knowledge of factors for medical image formation, screen, cassette and illuminator equipment.
  • Knowledge of budgetary and management principles
  • Knowledge of the principles and application of Process Improvement methodology.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
List the licenses, certificates, or registrations that are required to perform the essential duties of this job.

  • Current Texas state licensure to practice as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • Registration as a Radiologic Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
