Job Description

The Director of Quality Assurance will be responsible for overseeing the QA strategy and processes for both hardware and software products. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in quality assurance practices, experience in managing cross-functional teams, and a strong understanding of the technology landscape. The Senior Manager will work closely with engineering, product management, and operations teams to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy for hardware and software products, aligning with company goals and industry best practices.

    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

    • Drive the adoption of new QA methodologies, tools, and technologies to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Process Management:

    • Establish, monitor, and optimize QA processes, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and capable of supporting the company's growth.

    • Define and enforce quality standards, guidelines, and best practices across the product development lifecycle.

    • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate QA processes into development workflows, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.

  • Quality Assurance for Hardware and Software:

    • Oversee the testing and validation of hardware products, including functional, performance, reliability, and environmental testing.

    • Manage software QA activities, including manual and automated testing, regression testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

    • Ensure thorough documentation and reporting of test results, issues, and resolutions.

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate quality risks throughout the product lifecycle, proactively addressing potential issues before they impact customers.

    • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for product defects and failures, driving long-term solutions.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with product management to understand customer requirements and translate them into actionable QA plans.

    • Partner with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of QA processes and tools into development environments.

    • Collaborate with operations and support teams to address quality issues in the field and continuously improve product performance.

  • Reporting and Analytics:

    • Develop and maintain QA metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into product quality and testing progress.

    • Present quality reports and insights to executive leadership, highlighting areas for improvement and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams in a technology company.

  • Proven experience in QA for both hardware and software products.

  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices, including automation and CI/CD.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards is a plus.

The base salary range for this position in California is $175,000 - $200,000 depending on background and experience.
