What you’ll be doing
The Director is a key member of the Public Affairs team, which focuses on enhancing and protecting CIBC’s reputation with external stakeholders through media and public relations, investor and financial communications, and issues management. In this lead role, you will collaborate with subject matter experts across the bank to manage topics of reputational importance, and support external efforts to promote CIBC’s insight, advice and corporate story. You will report to the Senior Director, Public Affairs.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you’ll succeed
- Reputation and Brand Management – You’ll apply client focus and solid judgment in managing media and other stakeholder inquiries on enterprise-wide and line of business matters. You’ll also proactively identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities in all reputational matters.
- Strategic Communications – You know what is “news” and demonstrate solid analytical and strategic communications planning skills for diverse stakeholder groups. You combine this with clear, concise and impactful writing spanning media relations activities, social content and presentations. You also bring expertise in working with internal communications colleagues and business partners to align messages and approaches.
- Public Affairs – You’ll lead and manage communications supporting corporate initiatives and provide sound counsel to leaders at all levels in stakeholder engagement activities.
Who you are
- You demonstrate solid experience in media relations and managing complex reputational matters with senior leaders in a fast-paced environment. You are also adept at influencing decision makers on approach, tone, content and timely impact of communications. It’s an asset if you have knowledge of banking and its diversified client segments.
