This job provides a service-oriented approach to facilitate the planning, design and construction needs of the organization. Manages projects, supervises bid openings, writes contracts, changes orders and pay requests and inspections. Prepares jobs for bid, start-up and completion in a timely efficient manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Required - Bachelor’s degree

Preferred - Registered Architect or Engineer

Work Experience

Required - 10 years project management, process improvement, design and/or construction administration
5 years supervisory experience

Preferred - 2 years hospital design/construction experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.  
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

  • Interfaces on feasibility and constructability of projects as they relate to company standards and provides monthly project status reports relative to schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinates design/construction with Facilities Planning and Real Estate/Corporate Services within department and assigns workload to appropriate department personnel and provides continuous monitoring to ensure adequate project management and even workloads.
  • Coordinates department and contractor with Facilities Management, Safety and Security and other interdisciplinary departments. Implements start-up procedures and building commissioning/occupancy.
  • Coordinates with and acts as liaison between company user groups and outside consultants (Architects and Engineers) during planning, design and construction process. Supervises revisions of plans and specifications during design process.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Life Safety codes, state and local building codes as well as standards and healthcare design and construction guidelines.
  • Reviews all construction and consultant service contracts and coordinates with legal counsel. Ensures that all contractual agreements are strictly adhered to by all parties throughout design and construction processes.
  • Other related duties as required.

Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
