Job Summary

The Director of Project Management provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the project management organization, with accountability for portfolio performance and the consistent delivery of projects safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations. This role sets the direction for project delivery, leads and develops the project management team, establishes consistent processes and controls, and drives financial and operational performance in collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Accounting, and Performance Assurance.

The Director of Project Management serves as a strategic partner and primary liaison between executive leadership and the project management organization, translating business priorities into execution and promoting operational excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

Target Salary: $140,000 - $180,000 depending on experience.

Director of Project Management Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and hold accountable the Project Management team, building leadership capability and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.
• Provide strategic oversight of the project portfolio, establishing priorities and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements and SitelogIQ's project delivery standards.
• Establish and govern standardized project management processes and controls, ensuring consistent execution across planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, closeout, and transition to ongoing operations.
• Oversee portfolio schedules, resource planning, financial performance, revenue recognition, forecasting, billing, and gross margin to achieve business objectives while proactively addressing risks and performance gaps.
• Serve as a senior cross-functional partner to Sales, Engineering, Operations, Accounting, and Performance Assurance, aligning teams on project development, successful handoffs, execution priorities, and operational improvements.
• Ensure the Project Management team conducts effective reviews of project scopes, estimates, schedules, and execution strategies to confirm technical accuracy, operational readiness, and successful project delivery.
• Build and maintain senior-level relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders, serving as the executive escalation point for complex project and customer issues.
• Sponsor and lead process improvements that increase productivity, strengthen project controls, improve reporting and visibility, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Set and reinforce expectations for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to company policies, industry standards, and contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators, lead regular portfolio and business reviews, and provide executive leadership with actionable insights on performance, resource needs, risks, and opportunities.
• Lead workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and performance management while advancing strategic initiatives that strengthen and scale the Project Management organization.
• Create clear accountability across the Project Management team by defining expectations, delegating decision-making appropriately, and reinforcing consistent performance standards.

Director of Project Management Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction, energy services, or project management, including responsibility for complex project portfolios.
• 5+ years of leadership experience developing project management teams and driving organizational performance.
• Strong command of project and portfolio financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, margin management, and cost controls.
• Demonstrated success overseeing multiple complex projects and competing business priorities at scale.
• Proven leadership, executive communication, coaching, and organizational development skills.
• Strong executive-level customer relationship and issue-resolution experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management software, and reporting tools.
• Valid driver's license with ability to travel approximately 20–30%.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification.
• MBA or advanced technical degree.
• Experience with ERP/project financial systems.
• Experience in energy services, renewable energy, facilities improvements, or design-build construction.
• Knowledge of DSA, utility coordination, commissioning, and public-sector projects.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position is performed in office and client locations. The position may require extended periods of sitting, frequent standing and walking, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, and using a computer, phone, and keyboard. Travel to client and project locations is approximately 20–30% and may involve prolonged periods of driving.
