Role Overview
The Director, Production & Pipeline Services and Technology, Series Animation, is responsible for setting and supporting the Production Pipeline technology strategy and ensuring proper support for all specialty rooms in our Animation Series Studio. They will be partnering with studio executives, cross-functional technology teams, and production leadership to oversee and support all technology-related aspects of Animation Series needs (both current slate and long-term planning). This role will oversee the Series Animation VFX, and Production Services teams and will coordinate with broader Netflix to drive efficiencies into the achievement of studio objectives, especially related to animation software, infrastructure, development, tooling, and applications.
Core Responsibilities:
Oversee the Animation Series group’s technology requirements and development— heavily focused on production tech while partnering with Netflix teams to determine and drive support for IT, infrastructure, information security, procurement, etc.
Manage and develop the group’s Production Services and VFX team, supporting in-house specialty rooms and pipelines.
Establish and communicate production technology strategies that support NSA’s current slate, creative, development, and future growth.
Provide technical leadership to all areas of the studio, including post-production, production, and operations, to identify technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Partner with production leadership to ensure that technology solutions and services support NSA’s creative and efficiency goals.
Collaborate with production leadership to set both near-term technology objectives for our slate, as well as plan out longer-term innovation investments
Partner with innovation teams at Netflix to advocate for Series Animation needs in development and adoption of next-gen animation tooling
In partnership with Netflix colleagues, maintain close relationships with software and hardware vendors to leverage and influence technology roadmaps and partnership opportunities to drive innovation
Direct research on leading-edge technologies and make determinations on the impact on efficiency and creativity, as well as the feasibility of implementation
Key Qualifications, Skills, and Person Specification
15+ years of experience in technology within a Series animation pipeline
10+ years of experience in management and strategic experience within a global series animation studio.
People management and team building experience required
Strong understanding of series animation (2D and CG) and VFX pipelines, infrastructure, and development, including cloud, high-performance computing, and computer graphics required
Ability to actively communicate, inspire, and motivate all levels of the team
Strong industry relationships across animation and VFX
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $434,000.00 - $800,000.00.
