The Director, Product & Pipeline Communications will develop and execute communications strategies that support the company’s marketed products and pipeline assets, including FILSPARI® and programs in classical homocystinuria (HCU) and rare kidney disease. This role will translate complex scientific and clinical information into clear, compelling communications that strengthen product positioning, build understanding of the company’s pipeline, raise awareness of the diseases, and support key commercial, clinical, regulatory and data milestones.
The Director will work closely with colleagues across Corporate Communications, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Government Affairs and Investor Relations to ensure communications are coordinated, accurate and aligned with company priorities. The role will also manage external agency partners and contribute to broader corporate reputation and storytelling initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute integrated communications strategies for marketed products and pipeline assets, with a focus on FILSPARI and programs in classical HCU and rare kidney disease.
Create communications plans supporting commercial priorities and key product milestones, including clinical updates, data presentations and publications, regulatory events, medical congresses and lifecycle management initiatives.
Lead the development of product communication materials such as press releases, FAQs, product messaging guides, thought leadership content, and digital assets.
Partner across R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Patient Advocacy, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications to align messaging and support disease education, thought leadership and future market-shaping objectives.
Support media relations and digital and social content related to the company’s products, pipeline and disease areas, including preparing executives and subject-matter experts for external engagements.
Manage agency partners, project timelines and budgets, and measure the effectiveness of communications initiatives to inform future strategies.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
10+ years of experience in corporate communications, product communications, public relations or a related field within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry.
Experience supporting marketed products and pipeline programs, including commercial activities, clinical data milestones, regulatory communications, or disease education.
Experience in rare disease, nephrology, metabolic disorders or another science-driven therapeutic area is preferred.

Experience managing public relations agencies, vendors, project timelines and budgets.
Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets, and critical paths.
Ability to travel 15-20 % domestic and internationally, as needed.
All positions have an essential job function to be able to perform face to face work with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is expected to be 100% remote.

Compensation: Our competitive compensation package includes a combination of both cash compensation (base pay and short-term incentive) and long-term incentive compensation (company stock), designed to recognize, retain, and reward employees.
Target Base Pay Range:
$189,000.00 - $246,000.00*This information is current as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay offered to a candidate will depend on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and location.
