We are seeking a Director of Product Management to join Shutterstock’s Data Licensing & AI Services team and lead the strategy, customer experience, and development of Shutterstock’s AI Data Platform. This platform will make Shutterstock’s growing portfolio of multimodal data easy for AI developers and enterprises to discover, evaluate, and access for model training, inference, and emerging AI applications.
As we scale our AI data business, this role will own the platform experience, partnering closely with our Data Products lead who owns the data and offerings that power it. Together, these teams will connect Shutterstock’s expanding data supply with customer demand and create a scalable, differentiated experience for discovering and accessing data.
This leader will partner deeply with engineering, design, AI/ML, and commercial teams to translate customer needs and business opportunities into a clear platform strategy and roadmap, leading the platform from its initial build through continued expansion and adoption.
Product Strategy & Customer ExperienceOwn the Platform Vision: Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for Shutterstock’s AI Data Platform, balancing near-term customer opportunities with the capabilities required to build a scalable long-term business
Own the Customer Experience: Define intuitive, end-to-end experiences for how AI developers, researchers, data teams, and enterprises discover, understand, evaluate, access, and integrate data into their workflows
Connect Data Products to Customer Experience: Partner closely with our Data Products lead to translate Shutterstock’s growing portfolio of offerings into compelling discovery, evaluation, and access experiences
Make Clear Product Decisions: Establish what matters now, what can wait, and where we need to learn, making clear tradeoffs even when information is incomplete
Build & Lead the Team: Build and develop a high-performing platform product team, evolving the organization and capabilities needed to scale the platform and business
Lead Platform Product Direction: Drive product direction across search and discovery, customer evaluation, AI-assisted experiences, APIs and feeds, workspaces, data access, and delivery

Extend the Platform Ecosystem: Identify opportunities to bring Shutterstock data into the platforms, marketplaces, and AI workflows where developers build, including through APIs, integrations, and strategic product partnerships
Connect Product and Market: Work closely with customers, Sales, Business Development, and other key stakeholders to translate market demand into scalable platform capabilities
Shape the Platform Business Model: Define how customers access and engage with the platform and identify opportunities for platform-level monetization
Own Platform Product Outcomes: Establish clear measures of success and use customer feedback, usage, and business results to continuously evolve the platform
- Proven Product Leadership: 8+ years of product management experience leading and scaling complex products across data, developer, enterprise software, or AI
- AI-Powered Prototyping: Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools, including ChatGPT and similar technologies, to accelerate product discovery and design by creating prototype workflows and clickable front-end concepts. Works effectively with UX to refine requirements, visualize interactions, and communicate product intent before full engineering build-out
- Zero-to-One Experience: Demonstrated success taking major products or platforms from ambiguity and concept through launch, customer adoption, and iteration
- Product Judgment & Bias for Action: A track record of making clear product decisions and tradeoffs with incomplete information, enabling teams to move quickly, learn, and iterate
- Customer Experience Leadership: Strong customer instincts and experience translating sophisticated workflows and unmet needs into intuitive, scalable product experiences
- Technical Fluency: Strong understanding of modern data and platform concepts—including APIs, search and retrieval, data pipelines, cloud platforms, and AI/ML systems—with the ability to effectively lead and influence senior technology teams
- Relevant Platform Experience: Experience with AI/ML platforms, data platforms, developer products, search and discovery, data marketplaces, or large-scale content platforms strongly preferred
- Executive Leadership: Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to create alignment across technical, product, commercial, and executive stakeholders

Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
