About the role and team

Uber Ads seeks an experienced Product Management leader to own ad placements and formats (“Ads UI”) across Uber’s consumer purchase journey, including sponsored listings, offer formats, brand takeovers, and new ad experiences.

As Director of Product Management, Ads UI, you will shape how ads appear in Uber, balancing advertiser performance and monetization with consumer utility and UX quality.

This role addresses a complex product domain focusing on consumer UX— the design of ad formats, the placements where they appear, and some elements of how many appear.

You will lead a PM team and collaborate with Engineering, Design, Data Science, and Sales to build, test, and scale ad experiences. Ideal candidates bring strong consumer product judgment, deep ads expertise, and an understanding of marketplace auction dynamics.

What you’ll do

  • Define the Ads UI Strategy: Set the vision and multi-year product strategy for ad placements and formats across the consumer purchase journey, including sponsored listings/items, offers, brand takeovers, item showcases, and emerging formats.Think of innovative experiences that combine whats unique to Uber and weave them into ads experiences.
  • Build Great Consumer Ad Experiences: Apply strong consumer UX judgment to determine how, where, and when advertising should appear. Drive rapid experimentation and iteration while protecting the quality, relevance, and usability of the overall marketplace experience.
  • Optimize Marketplace Outcomes: Understand how changes to ad placement, format, and consumer experience affect auction dynamics, advertiser demand, ad load, relevance, conversion, and overall marketplace health.
  • Drive Performance for Advertisers: Build advertising experiences that deliver measurable outcomes for advertisers while creating experiences that are useful and relevant for consumers.
  • Lead Through Experimentation: Develop a rigorous experimentation roadmap across placements and formats, using consumer, advertiser, and marketplace signals to make fast, data-driven product decisions.
  • Scale the Product Organization: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Product Managers, establishing clear priorities and creating the operating mechanisms required to execute across a complex portfolio.
  • Lead Cross-Functionally: Partner deeply with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Sales, Operations, and business leaders to translate advertiser and consumer needs into scalable product experiences.
  • Navigate Complexity: Make high-quality decisions with imperfect information, resolve competing priorities, and create clarity across teams operating at significant scale.
  • Influence at the Executive Level: Clearly communicate product strategy, tradeoffs, experimentation results, and marketplace implications to senior and executive stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of product management experience with a history of delivering successful 0-to-1 advertiser-facing products  including 5 years of leading other leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and rapidly iterate consumer-facing ad placements and formats at scale, balancing advertiser performance and monetization with relevance, conversion, and a high-quality consumer experience.
  • Deep understanding of performance advertising and auction dynamics, including how changes to placements, formats, ad load, ranking, and relevance influence advertiser outcomes, consumer behavior, and overall marketplace health.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience balancing consumer experience, advertiser performance, and monetization within a two-sided or multi-sided marketplace.
  • Experience working across commerce, retail media, marketplaces, delivery, or other transaction-oriented consumer platforms.
  • Ability to partner closely with Engineering and Data Science on ranking, experimentation, auction systems, and large-scale advertising infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to make high-quality strategic decisions in fast-moving, high-ambiguity environments.
