ABOUT COUPANG PAY
The fintech business of Coupang is reimagining financial services for both our consumers and sellers, so they can do more with their money.
Coupang Pay focuses on delivering innovative payment and financial services solutions to everyone who uses the Coupang app — from customers buying products on Coupang.com, to marketplace vendors, and restaurants that offer their services via Coupang Eats. We develop solutions with our latest tech innovations to serve the growing needs of Coupang’s customers in Korea and Taiwan. This includes Coupay, an online wallet with a proprietary one-touch payment capability.
On the lending front, we are rapidly scaling the Wow credit card, a co-branded card that offers industry-leading rewards. For sellers, we are building out multiple liquidity options to help them grow their business, using Korea’s first BaaS (Banking as a Service) capability.

THE ROLE
We are looking for a seasoned product leader for our business who has deep experience in creating and scaling financial products that deliver a transformative customer experience. As Director of Product, Core Payments, you will be responsible for our consumer payments product across all our markets. As 100% of our GMV flows through Coupang Pay, these are truly large-scale and mission-critical systems, directly impacting the experience of millions of customers and supporting our international expansion.
Key responsibilities:
- Define the Product vision & strategy for Coupang’s Payments business.
- Wow the customer by launching and scaling new innovative fintech products for our consumers and sellers across markets.
- Drive growth, conversion increase and profitability by continuously improving the user-experience via experimentation, customer feedback and analytical insights.
- Support our international expansion by implementing new local payment methods for our customers in Taiwan and Japan.
- Execute our roadmap with urgency by partnering with stakeholders such as executives, business operations, design, data science, risk and engineering.
- Build, inspire and lead a team of Product Managers responsible for the entire product life cycle from strategic planning through implementation.
- Evangelize our fintech products both internally and externally with strong story-telling.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Track record of developing and scaling innovative payments products for a Tier 1 Fintech or Consumer Internet business.
- Track record of managing high performing product development teams working in an agile environment with a rapid iteration cadence.
- Proven ability to understand customer needs and translate that into compelling products and services.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical/quantitative discipline.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English.
- Understanding of the complexities of a marketplace/consumer platform model – preferred.
