YOU

The Director, Platform Engineering will serve as a key leader within the Digital Solutions team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and high-performing platform that enable innovative digital solutions. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Digital Solutions Delivery, this role will guide the platform engineering team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and proven leadership experience.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Platform Architecture and Development (30%)

  • Oversee the design and development of scalable, secure, and reliable platforms that support digital products and services. 
  • Ensure platform architecture adheres to best practices in performance, security, and scalability. 
  • Collaborate with product management and software engineering teams to deliver seamless integration between platforms and applications. 

Strategic Leadership and Vision (25%)

  • Define and drive the platform engineering strategy to align with the company’s digital transformation goals. 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to enhance business performance. 
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation. 

Team Leadership and Development (20%)

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing platform engineering team. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the department. 
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans for team members. 

Operational Excellence (15%)

  • Implement processes and tools to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of platforms. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize platform performance and reduce operational costs. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and security protocols. 

Stakeholder Collaboration (10%)

  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., IT, product management, software engineering) to ensure alignment on technical requirements and business objectives. 
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to communicate complex concepts in an understandable manner. 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering or platform development roles, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. 
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale platform engineering initiatives in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). 
  • Expertise in modern software development practices, including DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices architecture. 
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices for platform engineering. 
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with a focus on employee development. 
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires approximately 10% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This position will report to our VP Digital Solutions Delivery and will be located in our physical location in Dallas, Texas. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$139000.00 - $ 236300.00 / year
