As our Director, Platform Engineering & IT you will be the hands-on leader overseeing a team of Platform Engineers responsible for ensuring a secure and reliable modern Azure infrastructure to provide our SaaS solutions to our customers as well as migrating customers from on-premises to cloud. You will be driving the operations of this team by measuring, assessing, innovating, and growing the organization to support key metrics that ensure the delivery of reliable and secure platform services. Additionally, the Director will, at times, be customer-facing and engage in commercial tasks including pre-sales, customer support, and other customer-facing matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the strategic platform services plan to improve operational scale and efficiency while ensuring our cloud infrastructure meets the strict security requirements for the handling of PHI/PII data.
- Develop a trusted relationship with customers, enabling issues and opportunities to be addressed with a spirit of partnership.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Product, Professional Services, Customer Success and Engineering teams to continuously improve our cloud infrastructure and provide guidance on evolving product software to leverage cloud-native components.
- Responsible for all infrastructure security of Bridgeway, working with CTO, Engineering, Legal and the Senior Director – Information Security to document, manage and maintain Security policies and procedures.
- Develop the organization, processes, and tools to drive toward a NoOps approach for cloud infrastructure.
- Partner with the VP Engineering to opportunistically replace legacy product components with modern, cloud-native solutions.
- Define and measure KPIs that reinforce the efforts toward NoOps and cloud-native solutions.
- Work with sales in assisting with pre-sales for cloud hosting.
- People management responsibility which includes hiring, setting, and monitoring individual performance objectives, performance appraisal process, and providing regular feedback and coaching.
- Direct responsibility for exceeding 99.9% uptime for a 24 x 7 production hosted environment and owning the Disaster recovery plans for Bridgeway.
- Ensure all necessary processes and procedures are in place, maintained and followed to achieve a successful annual SOC2 Type2 audit.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement and accountability for timely hosting issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure the team is appropriately staffed, trained, and resourced to meet customer demand and SLAs.
- Ensure the cloud infrastructure costs stay within budget while providing the performance needed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience managing and growing a technical services team
- Proven track record driving cloud transformation
- Solid organizational and project-oriented skills, including planning, delegating, task facilitation and follow up
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to consistently deliver clear concise communications both internally and externally
- Technical knowledge of Azure or AWS hosting including Linux (RedHat) and Windows environments; networking, firewalls, application load balancers
- Experience leveraging security tools for EDR, SEIM and IDP.
- Experience in SOC2 audit procedures and managing SOC2, HIPAA or HiTrust audits
- Experienced in site/application optimization, recovery strategies and implementation of high availability infrastructure
- Proven success building, motivating and retaining high-performance teams
- Experience developing and implementing processes, utilizing systems and a track record of consistently delivering against targets in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing enterprise support systems (monitoring, observability, backup, etc.)
- Flexibility to manage a 24/7 Hosting services environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or 20+ years of experience in software development, cloud transformation, and product innovation.
