As a full time, exempt Director of Pharmacy, you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs with assistance from a full support team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- * Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within a single hospital, aligning operations with the hospital's clinical, quality, and financial goals
- * Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use, overseeing clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and formulary management
- * Lead, develop, and hold accountability for pharmacy leadership and staff, including managers, pharmacists, technicians, and support teams
- * Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, USP, BOP and state/federal laws
- * Oversee pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and cost-containment initiatives
- * Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders, supporting system-wide patient care, quality, and safety initiatives
- * Drive innovation, performance improvement, and strategic growth, leveraging data, technology, and best practices to advance pharmacy services
Schedule: This full-time, exempt position will work at least 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm, and on-call on an as needed basis.
Location: Nestled in the beautiful wine country of Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Valley Hospital is a 24-bed inpatient acute care hospital with a 27-bed skilled nursing facility serving the community with top-rated emergency services, general medicine, general surgery, rehabilitation, and diagnostic services.
Pharmacy Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:00am-8:00pm; Saturday & Sunday 7:30am-4:00pm with after-hours coverage provided by CPS Telepharmacy. The pharmacy utilizes Epic, CPOE, and Pyxis.

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Current California Pharmacist license in good standing
- Experience using computer applications including pharmacy information systems, pharmacy software, word processing, and spreadsheets
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services. Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology
- Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics
- Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in interdisciplinary teams and committees
- Proven leadership, administration, human resources, and managerial skills
- Proven business acumen includes profit/loss understanding, contract negotiations, and GPO function
- Proven problem solving and analytical thinking ability
- Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
