The Caturus platform was founded by Kimmeridge, an alternative asset manager focused on the energy sector, with subsequent additional investment by Mubadala Energy.  Caturus is building an independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through a combination of its upstream operations and Commonwealth LNG, a 9.5 Mtpa LNG export terminal in southwestern Louisiana.  Together, they will provide low-cost energy on demand with the lowest carbon footprint.

Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Director, Permitting to join our team that will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary permits are secured and that the project complies with all regulatory requirements. The position will report to our VP, Permitting & Compliance and will be located on-site in greater Houston.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Identifying all applicable Federal, State, and Local Permits and studies required to ensure the project is developed, constructed, and operated to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Leading the project through to the Project Definition phase, ensuring compliance with all internal and external procedures and processes to achieve approval by securing permits to operate from relevant authorities.
  • Develop and execute project‑specific permitting strategies and plans, aligned with overall project schedules, regulatory milestones, and business objectives.
  • Coordinate the preparation, submittal, and management of permit applications, regulatory filings, and supporting technical studies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory defensibility.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and permitting authorities for assigned projects, managing communications, meetings, site visits, and information requests.
  • Track permit conditions, regulatory commitments, and approval requirements, and ensure they are clearly communicated and integrated into engineering, construction, and operational planning.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Environmental, Legal, EPC, HSE, Construction, and Operations teams to ensure permitting requirements are incorporated into project design, execution plans, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor permitting schedules, risks, and dependencies, proactively identifying potential issues and developing mitigation plans to minimize impacts to cost, schedule, or scope.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and agency reviews related to permitting activities, including preparation of documentation and coordination of responses.

Qualifications: 
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Natural Resources, Law, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, environmental, or related functions within the energy, LNG, oil & gas, or large‑scale industrial infrastructure sectors. LNG experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Federal, State, and Local permitting activities for complex capital projects, including coordination of permit applications, regulatory filings, and supporting technical studies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local permitting and regulatory frameworks applicable to LNG and energy infrastructure projects, including environmental and operational permitting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of FERC‑regulated projects and associated permitting and environmental review processes relevant to LNG facilities and related infrastructure.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare regulatory documentation and communicate permitting requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional, project‑driven environment, supporting project leadership and escalation of permitting risks as needed.
