MicroVision has an immediate opportunity for an experienced People Operations Director. This role will be on site in our Orlando office, with some level of hybrid work possible, but this is not a remote position. We are looking for an experienced HR leader with excellent interpersonal communications skills to lead our human resource function. The People Operation Director will lead the development, implementation and administration of best practices, policies, and strategies in the HR function. The individual will be a key business partner providing hands-on operational and strategic human resources leadership for our company. They will be a significant contributor to build upon and help optimize our processes and tools landscape to provide a phenomenal experience for our employees and managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader to the executive team, broader leadership team, and an advocate for employees
- Develop and lead the talent acquisition strategy, improving the hiring process, candidate evaluation, and hiring manager effectiveness
- Lead change management initiatives to support the company’s growth, scalability, and evolving needs
- Stay up-to-date with HR best practices, industry trends, and regulatory changes to ensure the organization remains competitive and compliant
- Partner with senior leadership to shape the company’s culture (including by facilitating increased in-person collaboration), ensuring alignment with organizational values, mission, and vision
- Ensure provision of effective human resources services by overseeing the operations and employees of the People Operations department, including performance evaluations, training, maintenance of records, employee lifecycle, writing/updating personnel manual, and documents
- Ensure positive Employee Relations practices; counsel and/or coach employees and managers regarding employee issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution
- Prepare budget and justify budget requests and adjustments. Establish departmental strategy, goals, and objectives and ensure efficient and economical use of department funds, staff resources, materials, facilities, and time
- Monitor and analyze people data to identify trends, address potential challenges, and make data-driven recommendations to improve people practices
- Assist employees in understanding policies and utilizing benefits, including cash and equity compensation plans, 401(k) plan, leave of absence coordination
- Mentor and support growth of the People Operations and recruiting team members
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Engineering, and Operations, to ensure the alignment of People initiatives with company priorities and legal compliance
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or other related degree. SPHR or related certification is a plus
- 12+ years in HR with graduated experience and responsibility experience preferably within a technology environment
- 7+ years of management experience in human resources, people operations, or related leadership roles
- Knowledge of current laws and regulations governing human resource matters with a solid understanding of federal and state employment laws; experience with international labor laws a plus
- An excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to develop and maintain high levels of credibility to forge solid professional relationships with subordinates/peers and become a trusted advisor to upper management
- A multi-tasker with strengths in setting priorities and completing projects within deadlines
- Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, EEO Compliance, Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment Claims processing and COBRA
- Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
- Proven ability to present and translate People Operations data and analytics into meaningful recommendations for executive leadership
